Good morning 13er's. Those pesky room assignments. Awaited with so much anticipation, to bring either joy or disappointment. I think the waiting is half the fun. Kind of like when you are waiting to find out if you are going to have a boy or girl when expecting.

Kids are still asleep here and it is very quiet. I am enjoying the silence.

Hi everyone and welcome to the new members of the group! I've been gone for a while - went to Atlanta for my mom's 85th birthday- there's a lot of posts to catch up on. what has everyone heard about Cozumel? any word on resuming the stop in June or is disney just taking a wait and see attitude?

I saw a couple of you are looking at Atlantis, but booking a room a comfort suits. Whats the deal with that?

Re flip-flops, I plan on living in mine, cause while in Atlanta my sisters and I discovered "switch flops" which are basic flip flops (with platform or not) that have velcro on the straps and you buy all kinds or interchangeable straps, so you can change color, style at will. They are the cutest things! you would have thought we'd won the lottery we were so excited . . .

Have a great day everyone

Hey everyone...I edited my last post bc it was brought to my attention that I might be alienating those in CAT's 1-3.

It was my opinion and sorry if it offended anyone. Personally to me it is not worth it but if you want to spend the money go for it. Also, if someone is booking a CAT 1-3 why would they care if I don't agree with it??? :confused3

Anyway, I hope no one took offese to my opinion and in the future I will keep my opinion to myself. :thumbsup2

I've been paying adult fare for DD all her life as we travel as a duo... it's just that she's old enough now to enjoy the company of a friend and I'd like to take one and it's just too expensive on DCL (whereas on MSC or Costa kids sail for port charges, or on NCL they sometimes sail for $99 or $149)...

I didn't think of it that way..Ouch! This is the first time we are bringing a friend, but we are not paying, her parents are! My DD went with her friend to Mexico the other year & we paid for the trip. This works out for us, maybe that would be an option?

I got "wet noodle lashed" myself for expressing my opinion on Cat 1 - 3 guests... my opinion was clearly gee, I wish it could be me!!! and in no way denigrated anyone with the means to book in those cats. Please note that I indicated it made me "weepy" to read of the fabulous concierge service and not "indignant at the way these upper Cats-man flaunt their wealth." I say "bully for them" :yay:all the way... just wish that someday it could be me. :worship:

Well at least I was not alone!!! :lmao:

It is just silly. I just sat at breakfast and had this discussion with my husband. IMHO (which IMO I should be able to have) I would rather cruise on 4 back to back cruises then 1 week in a CAT 1-3. Does that make anyone in a CAT 1-3 bad, NO. I have friends who drive $90,000 Range Rovers and I drive a Nissan Quest. I LOVE my van! I would not trade it for the world. I have no problem telling my friends I would NEVER pay that amount of money for a car.

So again, if anyone's feelings are hurt but what I believe I am sorry. It is the same as if you told me who you voted for for president. There is a 50/50 chance we may not agree. Do I care, no. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. *sigh*

On our first cruises they did a tour of ship through all of the different staterooms. I did not even go on that. I just don't care. I won't even get a Verandah bc I just don't care. We had a Verandah and it was fine. IMO it was something that I did not need again. If they were giving away like they did on the TransAtlantic for basically pennies a day then maybe I would consider it. But then again at that point I would probably stay in an inside room and price out the other TransAtlantic cruise and just buy a roundtrip ticket to and from Spain vs just a one way! :thumbsup2

To each his own.

Well knowing now that I was not the only one sent to the principals office makes me feel better and now back to class....*sigh*

Hey all- what's everyone doing today? It is pouring outside today- again!!!! Anyway, I think I am working on my FE gifts today to lighten my mood with all of this gloomy weather outside. Dh says he will help me- we'll see about that!!:rotfl2:

Well- I'm gonna break you two out of detention- you are completely entitled to have your own opinion- but alot of people on the boards tend to be a little errr... self righteous in their opinions. To each her own!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

No cabin assignments yet!!:crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:

I know I'm disappointed to. When I logged in my email and saw all the notification posts for this thread I got excited and went directly to the DCL site cause I thought surely they were in and everyone was chatting about them, but no such luck :-(

ouch--we often stay in a suite because our first cruise we were in the Walt suite and got very spoiled by it. Several times we had 7 in the room when you have a suite you do tend to spend more time in there than in a regular room.

We are not rich, but vacations are my big splurges. We do not do spa treatments, and rarely do excursions. I don't drink-although often my husband will make up for it. We only play bingo on rare occassions. Is it a lot of many-yes. Do we have more fun because of the suite-no, but to us it is worth it. We travel with my parents, and some times my brother and his family and it gives us room to hang out together.

This cruise we had a cat 2 and changed a few months ago to cat 3 with the connecting 4 for my parents.

My dream is to one day stay in the Walt Suite, complete with the piano (although I heard they had it removed:sad1:). DH even asked to put us on a wait list for a cat 1-3 for the Northern Baltics in July 2010. Its still so far off, and if we did get offered one, we'll have to see. Well, it will probably be me telling DH to save the money. Or maybe we'll come into some unexpected cash! Then I wouldn't feel so uneasy about spending it! Its just my upbringing, I guess. DH def wants a balcony, and so we have a cat 6 booked for that cruise. I personally would be happy with a cat 12, and save the money for more cruises! DH and I definitely think differently. I'm always looking for ways to save money and he does not. When he needs to book a flight, he just books it. I look around for the cheapest flights for days.:rotfl:
We were fortunate to have had the opportunity to fly to so many destinations all over the world for free when he was active duty on Space A flights! Those were $6 a piece and included a boxed lunch! Then we stayed in $10 officer quarters! I miss those bargain days! :rotfl:

Just home from church. Supposed to get really bad weather today here. I have no idea what we're doing- may be a lazy day.

Can we come see it please? My friend MarciJ always sails in a Cat 3 and loves it. We want to get the one that has the 3 sleeping in the living room part. I'd love to get a up-close look to show DH for our next cruise!:cloud9:

Where did you get the flip flops? I live here in Atlanta and want some now! :thumbsup2 DD and I live in our flip flops, wore 'em to church this am, and will have them on the entire cruise (except for excursion walking).

:thumbsup2 That is cool! We don't have any family but my mom...:sad2: It is usually the 5 of us. Again, no offense is meant to be taken. I am always looking for the best deal....now this is me waiting for cabin assignments...:surfweb:

ME TOO!

Anyone is welcome to come see it. When we have had a cat 1 we have hosted a dis meet there.

The cat 3 we have is not one of the large midship ones, but it is a plus that we had the connectin cabin available for my parents. My mom is in a wheelchair and this way will be right there with us. We stayed in this type of room one other time and they do crowd a lot in there--couch, chairs table and chairs-but it works out. We are in 8582, so stop-or call to see if we are there. My husband is not a sun person so will be in there in the afternoon sometimes. The 2 bathrooms are nice-although you can get 2 cheaper if you book 2 conneting cabins. The extras from concierge are hit ir miss depending on who the concierge team is. We do not make a lot of requests, but if there has ever been a problem they are great at helping you out.

I totally get that others would not spend that on a trip. There are plenty of pricey things people do that I would not spend on as well. Everyone is entitled to their thoughts. I was just feeling a little slammed by some of them--probably me being too sensitive.

Once you do saty in a suite it is not impossible to go back-we have cruised several times not in a suite, but you miss the extra space and other little things that come with it. Maybe I just really enjoy being spoiled once in a while.
