Good Afternoon everyone!!!
It has been an interesting day.... We were told that we have a mandatory Furlough as state employees and a decrease will be seen in our pay checks so far only for the month of May and June..... I am so glad Rob is now working:headache:

Being in Public Health also of course we got a bunch of guidelines to follow about the flu....

But besides that Hey tomorrow is HUMP day!!!!:woohoo:

And I still have not told my kids about the trip...sshhhhh!

One more tidbit...... on Friday Fieldtrip with DS Layne to Busch Gardens

I know you are glad that Rob got a job, that will help with the pressure of the furloughs. Good luck that it will not affect you too much!!:goodvibes

Is it Busch Gardens in Virginia- we love it, it is our 5th favorite amusement park, of course you know which ones are 1,2,3 and 4!! LOL Have fun!!

OK- I was looking at a map of the Caribbean- ans we could go to CC, then Jamaica, then, GC. What do you guys think? :rotfl:

No Key West... I would rather skip CC & hit the Keys, GC, & Jamaica Man ~ I could go for!! :thumbsup2 In any order, of course.

Our packing List:

( My tip is to make your list to fit you and save it and print it out for every trip because you may need to change your packing list a little depending on where you are going and how long)
We put Check marks by the ones we have done -as we are packing and then after we have one check and think we are done with packing then we then go through one more time and mark out the item to make double sure we have everything done.)

These are all good packing tips...for those of you who haven't cruised, I have compiled a list of things I’d take on a cruise, if I were driving and space/luggage really weren’t an issue… (that being said DD and I did 13 days in the Med (7 of them on a cruise) in November with one 26” carry-on EACH! So you really don’t need anything other than money & a spirit of adventure, but traveling with a little one does require a wee bit more stuff….)

In no particular order
• $1s and $5s for tips and spending onshore, especially in ports where change many not be given in USD
• Lots of various sized Ziplock bags – millions of uses
• Cable ties – the last night of your cruise you set your bags in the hallway by midnight for collection by the porters, if you use cable tie the locks then no one can go through your luggage
• Night light
• Short Power cord for nightlight/camera chargers,etc
• Travel alarm clock, illuminated (as already mentioned)
• Toiletries that have about ¼ left in them (shampoo, toothpaste, etc): travel sized won’t last a week and this way you can just throw out the tubes/bottles at the end of the week
• Ziplock baggie of powered detergent (or small travel sized liquid detergent) for either doing laundry or rinsing bathing suits in the sink; since we have allergies to "scented stuff" I can't use the Tide or similar that is normally sold at laundries
• 2 large garbage bags – to segregate dirty clothes – or a mesh pop-up laundry bag as PP said (I love mine - Walgreens $2.99)
• (optional) 11 x 14 padded envelope with cardboard liner if you plan on buying any on-ship photos (so they don’t get crushed)
• First Aid (I use a Qt sized ziplock) with various things – bandaids, benadryl, Tylenol and Nyquil
• Your child’s stuffed animal or blankie (or both) -- again, don't tell DD I said
• More sunscreen/underwear/money than you think you will need; less shoes/shirts/dress bottoms (as PP said - wear the same dress pants/capris 2 nights)
• Flip flops (Old Navy 2 for $5) for walking around the ship, taking a quick run out to grab something, going to hang in the sauna at the spa
• Insulated coffee mug for adults; some kind of covered mug/cup for child (to bring back oj/juice from breakfast and keep in "fridge" in room)

Keep in mind that you will be in Key West on day 2 so ANYTHING you have forgotten you can buy there at regular prices :yay:

That would be ok - but need to hit Key West (1st), I would still rather do Tortola or Belize. My sister went to Jamaica and hated it so I am leary on gong there but I guess it's better than Swine I mean Cozumel right now.

Tortola or Belize sounds great too- maybe we need to call DCL about our new itinerary!! LOL

Based on this article, most ships are just extending time in an existing port or adding time at sea. Nobody (Caribbean) added another port except RCL with their island Coco Cay on their Liberty of Seas route. Based on this, I think DCL has a few options: extend time in Key West or GC, make Cozumel a Sea Day, maybe a combo of these 2, or possibly double dip CC.

Swine Flu Update: Mexico Cruise Itinerary Changes (10:30 p.m. EDT) -- Cruise lines continue to announce itinerary changes this evening in light of ongoing swine flu concerns. Below, we've listed the cruise lines calling on Mexico ports in the near future, and the latest information available from each:

Carnival Cruise Lines

Carnival Cruise Lines has canceled calls at Mexican ports for all current sailings. Additionally, Carnival will cancel calls in Mexico for all voyages departing Thursday, April 30 through Monday, May 4.

Carnival Inspiration and Carnival's Holiday skipped calls at Cozumel today, and Carnival Elation avoided Ensenada. Carnival Paradise will also skip a call in Ensenada tomorrow.

Carnival will substitute canceled calls with an alternative port where possible, and says it is currently working on those itineraries -- full details will be available by 5 p.m. EDT on April 29. Guests who do not wish to sail on a modified itinerary will be given the option to reschedule their cruise for a later date. We have requested more information and will keep you posted.

Disney

Disney Magic is due in Cozumel next on May 6; the cruise line has not yet announced any changes in plan.

Fred. Olsen

Fred. Olsen's Balmoral will skip a call on Acapulco next week. The ship will have an extended stay in San Diego, and an extra port -- Costa Rica's Puntarenas -- has been added.

Holland America

Holland America has announced that five sailings will be impacted by swine flu. In addition to Ryndam (which, as we reported earlier, skipped a call at Mazatlan today), changes will be made to the current itineraries for Statendam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam, and the May 1 departure of Veendam. Alternate port information has not yet been announced.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Pearl has canceled its April 29 call on Acapulco and its May 1 call on Cabo San Lucas. Norwegian's scheduled itineraries do not include any more Mexico calls until the end of September 2009.

Princess

Princess canceled two Mexico calls on April 28: Puerto Vallarta (Sapphire Princess) and Cabo San Lucas (Coral Princess). Sapphire Princess will visit San Diego and Catalina. We're told any further itinerary announcements will be communicated by April 29.

Royal Caribbean/Celebrity

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is temporarily suspending its port calls in Mexico. The announcement impacts several ships. Most impacted:

star2.bmp
Mariner of the Seas will sail a fully revised itinerary through the June 14 sailing, visiting Canada and the U.S. West Coast. Those seven-night cruises depart from Los Angeles and visit San Francisco, Victoria and Seattle (note: the ship's May 10 sailing will feature a port call in Astoria, Oregon, rather than San Francisco). Royal Caribbean has established a special help desk to assist guests booked on these cruises. The toll-free number is 800-327-6700.

Other ships will simply make alternative port calls or spend additional time at sea:

star2.bmp
Enchantment of the Seas's five-night sailings from Ft. Lauderdale on Mondays will spend additional time in Key West and add an extra sea day in lieu of Cozumel. Its four-night sailings that depart on Thursdays will also spend additional time in Key West, and call in Nassau in lieu of Cozumel. Five-night sailings that depart Ft. Lauderdale on Saturdays will call at Ocho Rios instead of Cozumel.

star2.bmp
Freedom of the Seas will spend additional time in Grand Cayman and add an extra sea day in lieu of Cozumel.

star2.bmp
Liberty of the Seas will call in Coco Cay in the Bahamas in lieu of Cozumel.

star2.bmp
Radiance of the Seas will replace its port calls in Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with an extended, overnight port call in San Diego, California, and additional time at sea.

star2.bmp
Serenade of the Seas will call at San Diego in lieu of Cabo San Lucas.

star2.bmp
Celebrity Infinity will skip its calls at Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas; more information on its replacement itinerary was not available at press time.

I would prefer an at sea day vs another day at CC since everything is closed on the ship when we are at CC, but I am up for anything... Wish they would just change us to the Eastern Carribean itinerary except I would miss Key West and I have always wanted to go there. It's out of all of our hands though.

I just wish they would make the announcement NOW so we can cancel reservations and make new plans for wherever we are going. I want to know what we are doing and book things. WHY else did I stay up until midnight on the 90 day mark!!!!

Tortola or Belize sounds great too- maybe we need to call DCL about our new itinerary!! LOL

Think DCL would hire us? We wouldn't leave people dangling HA HA.
