Stephanie, I hope Maddy feels better! Davis had the same thing and had to have the skin graph. The surgery was a success, and he didn't hurt very much. You can't even see the scar behind the ear (it's in the crease) and the graph is under the hair line. They left a tiny little hole on purpose in that ear so that it can vent and hopefully not rupture again. Thinking of you!

I was so hoping they would leave a hole in maddy's ear too. It makes such a difference.

I was also hoping they would do it all in the crease. How old was he when he had it done? Maddys doc was sayinf that they usually like to wait till they are older, around 5 or 6. They just can't leave the hole there that long bc of her hearing. We have already been in speech for over 2 years and I don't need any more set backs! He said that bc she is young that he is also going to have to expand her ear canal (something he wanted to avoid but can't). Did Davis need that? That is the part I am most worried about. Brooklyn had so many ear problems but they never got this bad. I know more about Ears and Sinus that I ever cared to know!!! I swore I would not have snot nosed kids and they both have SO MANY problems with the sinus and ears I have seen more snot then I ever care too!!!!!! :rotfl:

I hope you feel better too! I was just catching up while Maddy was sleeping. Hopefully this can take care of everything so you do not have to worry about anything on your vacation!!!!

He didn't have the ear canal stuff. He was 4 or 5 when he had it done. I hope they can fix it ASAP!

Hi Everyone! There will be a little bit of a delay getting the website up and running.

I have been dealing with a sick child for the past 24 hours. I finally had to take Maddy down to the Naval Hospital this am. Unfortunatly she has a ruptured ear drum. It is so sad bc this was her "good ear". Her left ear drum ruptured a few months back while there was a blocked tube in place. When the tube fell out the rupture and the hole from the tube combined. The hole is too large for it to repair itself. We tried a paper patch during her sinus surgery last month but it did not work. She now needs to have the whole back of her "detatched", skin taken from the back of her neck to skin graph her ear drum and then her little ear sewed back down. :-(

Now to get this news today that her right ear drum has ruptured what not what I wanted to hear! Hopefully though this rupture can heal itself. We won't know though till the swelling goes down.

She has been amazing though! She is such a trooper!

I PROMISE to get the website up and running in the next few days. Thanks for understanding!

Stephanie

Oh my goodness, I hope everything goes ok! Don't worry about the website, you have more important things to worry about!

Denise, I hope all goes well with you, too! :)

I'm glad Rob got a job! Alittle less worried now, I'm sure!

On the upgrades, the TA I am using is out of Jacksonville, FL... they notified me that they had sold 120 Cat 12's on this sailing so I'm thinking that either 1) we are using the same TA or 2) there are a WHOPPING number of guarantees out there!
Can't wait for assignments!

that is our TA-out of Jacksonville--we LOVE them!!

Anyone else concerned over all the negative talk about the new menus going into affect at the time of our cruise? My husband is pretty outspoken if we have bad service and he will hate not being able to get steak nightly--I see a big discussion with the head server on the horizon--

As long as there's variety, I'm personally not too worried. DS 12 is a picky eater and will prob order from the children's menu. As long at there are chicken strips and mac and cheese, we're in good shape. :rotfl: Is there a seafood dish offered nightly? DD is a vegetarian but does eat seafood. My DBIL is a more simple meat and potatoes kind of guy, and does not like to try new things. He does love his pizza though. How is the pizza up on deck 9?

I'm with you, as long as they have chicken strips, were in good shape with the girls. The last cruise we took that was all my DD ate. Last time we were on, which was in 2004, the pizza was good, so were the chilli cheese dogs! :)
I'm a pretty picky eater, I just hope I can find something for myself to eat! :) Last time, I ate some kind of steak most every night, tried the salmon one night & it was horrilbe! See what adventure got me :)

in the past they had a veg offering each night, and there is usually a fish

Brandon would live on the chicken fingers, but we try to make him try other things now---perhaps I'll be eating the chicken fingers too.

I personally liked the pizza and so did Brandon, but have read others that did not.

We 'try' to get our DD to try new things also, but..last time we were in Hilton Head, my BIL was paying her to try new things. Now, of course, she wants to know how much she will get if she trys something new! Ugh!

Now one things both kids enjoy is sushi! I am not a sushi eater, but DD loves it and DS likes salmon rolls! I think my DH must have paid him to try it too :rotfl: and now he orders it when we eat habachi or go to a sushi restaurant. I prefer my fish cooked, thank you!:rotfl: Does anyone know if sushi is served on the asian buffet at lunch?

I have read somewhere that sushi is served. My DD & DH eat it, I don't! And yes, he paid her to try it, now she loves it! :)

My son Eric ate chicken fingers almost every night of our last Disney cruise 3 years ago... The servers named him "chicken nugget boy". I really hope to get him to try some new things, he's 13 now.

It is fun to get the kids to try things Eric's twin sister is very brave and even tried escargot. Their little sister now 10 discovered she loved creme breulee and baked Alaska. Of course they've never had any since.

I'm a nighly Steak person too, so is my DS.

I was a little concerned about the food as well, I was looking at the Wonder menus- I know I will not be eating some of the stuff. I am a picky eater as well, but I will eat baked chicken or steak or something plain. Now DH will eat anything- very adventurous.:thumbsup2 The kid menus look great for Jordan though, the last cruise she only drank choc milk and ate ketchup, :rotfl2::rotfl2:we have expanded her palate now, she likes steak and shrimp now.:rotfl:

You're place is to be with and take care of Maddy. The website should be the last of your worries.

Will she be able to swim with the hole in her eardrum?

My sisters ruptured when she was 21, she was talking on our cordless house phone and got hit by lightening. The lightening when through the phone line, ruptured her ear drum, fried the phone and singed her hair. She had to have surgery to repair the hole and then she was fine.
