6/13/2009 Western on Magic- Our Cruise Chat Continues!

Good morning, everyone!

Ok, so who else watched the Biggest Loser finale? :happytv:
That was so inspiring, especially the young kid, Mike, and his dad. I must say that I think that the winner, Helen, lost a little too much weight, but hopefully she will find a nice happy medium ... (says the girl whose backside has to get into a bathing suit in a matter of weeks!!! :scared1:)

I am so happy it's Wednesday and that school is almost over -- June 3rd here in Orlando. 7th Grade has been a long year for DD with the peer pressure and bullying (she is a minority in her school) and the sports schedules, you name it! We both need a summer break but as a single parent (I like to say "Super Mom") an 11 week summer poses its own challenges. It was actually easier when she was little because she could go to a day camp and have fun and it was like daycare... now that she is older we are having struggles with her wanting to stay home all day (no way!) and finding decent alternate options.

Anyhow, have a Great Wednesday everyone.

Hi Donna!

Happy Wednesday to you too! YES I was glued to Biggest Loser last night! It is my favorite reality show by far. It is so inspirational!! I was glad Helen won though...Tara had already won so much I was glad the prize money got spread around some! I cried over Mike and Ron and their journey...I hope they can get the other son onboard to get healthy too!

I am also with you on the "what to do over the summer" issue... I work 3 days a week and sometimes Megan does stay home with her brother and it is always worrysome for me! Not that they are doing anything bad, but I just hate that they are sitting at home all day doing nothing! Evan goes to camp a couple weeks during the summer and I try to spread it out just to break the monotony, but we can't afford to send him to camp every week. Soooo... after the cruise, the FUN begins!

Have a great day! It is rainy today in Chicagoland...we cannot wait to get to warm sunny Florida and beyond...ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!!!

The website is updated with the new Gift Exchange information. :thumbsup2

I'm lucking in the fact that even though I'm a single mom, I work at home. I write computer software.... It can be a little lonely never going to work, but it does help in the child care area. My problem with summer is that they can drive me crazy when I work, so I usually shove them outside.

Leaving kids alone is never easy, when their young you worry about them doing something stupid, now I'm at the stage where I worry about them killing each other (especially b/g twins 14). Later I suppose I'll have to worry about boyfriends and girlfriends and parties :scared1::scared1:

I usually try to take 2 or 3 weeks of vacation in the summer, then send them to camp for a week.

I think when I was 14 I babysat a 6 year old for a single mom, kept me out of trouble and I made some money too.

Hold off on printing the Gift Exchange list. There are some updates. When it is all updated I will let everyone know. We are waiting for some cabin assignments and there was an extra cabin on the list that was just posted.

Hey Stephanie, and all of my Palo brunch peeps- I wonder if they will re-arrange the Palo brunches that we have and everyone else has because of the possible changes to itinerary? Maybe they would just change the days around- I guess we'll see soon.

Hi Everyone! One month to go!!! I'm making real progress. I finished my FE - it is so cute. I am the world's LEAST crafty person - really, I'm an idiot when it comes to stuff like this. but I followed the instructions for the no-sew version and it came out great. no one in my family can believe I made it. HA!! Got my gifts for the FE also. I'm feeling like they are kind of puny, but it gets expensive when there are 29 cabins, you know? hope they are ok. And, i just ordered a basket for Ally from Shirley (Shirley's helper Patty, actually). She was very nice and had some good ideas. The person that answered the phone was kind of grumpy and said I was too early but Patty said it was no problem - they'd get started on it. anyway, except for NOT KNOWING if we're going to Cozumel, which drives me crazy, I'm making progress.

I was thinking of calling Shirley's in the next week to order a basket(well we're really going to get a sand bucket)for Jordan for her graduation gift. I've got some ideas for a few things I want in it- so I just have to arrange it. Thanks for reminding me!!!

What a wonderful Wednesday! Hump day is almost over YEAH!

I found out yesterday that I have another Kidney Stone, I go to the Dr. tomorrow to see what we are going to do about it UGH! Hopefully nothing right now, I don't have time.

Today has been a busy day:
*we have severe thunderstorms,
*tornado watch is in effect right now,
*expecting really bad weather tonight starting about 7:00 and predicting tornado's late in the evening until 3:00 am (gotta love the midwest),
*Changing cruise plans, ie. cancelling dcl transportation, renting a car, going to the shuttle launch (yeah), changing dining links (the more the merrier anyone else want to link with us at the late dining) let me know?

Tonight
*Another High School Meeting tonight - Class of 2013 Parent Meeting
*I have to go to the grocery store

I hope everyone had a good day and has a good night! It's a great day today, we are one day closer to meeting!!!!!

TTFN,
Diane

Ok, whoever started the illness jinx, enough already!!!!:lmao: No seriously, I hope you are OK Diane, and pass that kidney stone with minimal pain. I rarely get sick (knock on wood) but woke up Mother's Day with what I thought was a severe toothache. I HATE going to the dentist (I know, crazy, since I'm married to one of the sweetest pediatric dentist in the world . He was a general denitst before he specialized - that's how we met.) Anyway, I didn't want to have it looked at on Mothers Day and I've been in this insurance class the last 2 days. Well, couldn't take the pain any more so last night, finally went to the office and he took a look at it and its not my tooth after all. So today, the whole side of my face is swollen and the pain is a "9"- went to the Dr this afternoon - she started me on a z pack and I go for a CAT scan of my neck tomorrow. We're ruling out cat scratch fever, TB, a mass. It hurts so much I can't put my teeth together. I can only drink. Guess that's one way to lose weight for the cruise! :rotfl2: Anyway, send me some pixie dust please. I could use a little pain relief!

They only do brunch on sea days so I think if we got the 2nd sea day it would just stay as the 2nd sea day even though the day itself might change. I am calling right now to see if I can find out anymore information.
