6/13/2009 Western on Magic- Our Cruise Chat Continues!

Just looking at the board. My family will be on the magic for this one. Hope to meet everyone

Thanks Taina!
I just hadn't heard anyone spell out exactly how it is handled there! I feel more confident now about Megan going there...along with Kaitlyn, Larry, Morgan, Megan....sorry if I forgot anyone !!!! They are going to have a blast!!! :cool1::cool1:
Hayden will be hanging out at the Stack, too.....that is if they let the 13-yr olds in! He will be VERY disappointed if he can't!

:welcome:

Yay! :yay: We have NOTHING to do tonight!!!! I am going to work on my FE gifts and print out some magnets! I was starting to panic that I wouldn't get everything done in time. :scared1:
I hope everyone has a great weekend and a happy Mother's Day!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you register kids for the Stack. My DD turns 14 Sept 25th and also has her heart set on going there. I already let her know about the one month out rule, but I've also heard from other veteran cruisers that 13 yr olds have been allowed in esp if they have other friends who they'll be hanging with who are 14 or older. And I'm sure maturity level plays a big part. So I'm in the dark too, sort of. I just plan on letting her go up, and if there's a problem, she'll hang out elsewhere. She's going into 9th grade and she's very mature, so I feel comfortable sending her there.

I am sorry if everyone has heard me say this before but.... Layne was in the stack when he was 13 last year and you do not check in for the teen club!!!:thumbsup2 They just go on up and meet the counselors when it is open:cool2:

Just came home from picking up DD from a NJHS trip to the Kemah boardwalk near Galveston. She is very pink/red! We stopped home on the way to get aloe vera. They weren't swimming but she got pretty red on her face, arms and legs. And she has another trip tomorrow with the honors band - first competitions, then water park at Schiterbahn in Galveston. They leave at 5am and get back at 10pm! :scared1: She even took 70 sunblock with her - of course it didn't do any good in her bag on the bus!
I was suprised her school does not have any type of graduation ceremony from Jr high. I remember we had one when I went to school. Of course, that was back in 1975 before most of ya'll were born! :lmao: Does anyone else have graduation ceremonies from jr high?? That's another thing to celebrate on the ship too! And DS's 12th BD! He turns 12 on June 3rd. :yay:

With only about a onth to go I guess I need to start printing my magnets. I am planning on shipping the Fe stuff and Magnets to the ship, Has anyone done this previously, and did it go OK. I am planning to order a basket from Shirley for DD 8th grade graduation and for a welocom for DW and DSIL. I did this for our last 4 day and it was great surprise the only problem was we never found time to drink the wine! I am planning on doing a little more relaxing on the ship this time (or is this just wishful thinking?). Hope everyone has a good weekend.

DD's middle school has a dinner for the 8th grade and a special semi-formal dance for the class. This is similar to what I remember from 8th grade back in 1971. In fact my mother had a picture of DW and I dancing at that final 8th grade dance, even though we did not even start dating until 9 years out of college!

What are you doing for your daughter's 8th grade grad basket?

And how many of us have kids that are ending middle school and venturing into highschool:scared1:

I am probably going to get help from Shirley on that, she is really great with helping you figure out what to include. We thought about sending something down to Shirley to include but we were afraid that it might get lost or not make it.

No dance at DD's school for the 8th graders. :sad1: They do have an 8th grade end of year celebration at a ranch nearby. Wow, we've got quite a few 8th grade graduations to celebrate! :dance3: That's so cool you have a photo of you and DW dancing. You were destined for each other!

OK, I still don't have any FE gifts, nor have I had my FE made, or made any magnets! Does anyone know where the FE participant list is posted??

it's on the website Stephanie made

Thank you!!! I didn't even think to check there! Of course, I'm the queen of procastination. :rotfl: I'll probably be picking up my FE gifts on the way to the port! :rotfl2:

Well for the rest of the weekend we have a Early Soccer Game for Layne tomorrow then we are headed up to Virginia to spend the night with my sister and then have a cook out for Layla's two year old bday party on Sunday!!! She will be 2 on Monday.....:lovestruc

I am still tweaking my excursion plans as I type this!!! I am always so indecisive!!!;)

Well, I get to spend this weekend shopping for a new washer and dryer. :sad2: The washer is leaking from the underside of the tub - something is cracked, as well as a crack in the front loader door. And the dryer needs a new seal. Problem is we built a custom home and the opening was sized for this stackable set. I really want to upgrade to the Maytag neptune that stacks but can't without cutting into cabinets! I'm researching now to see what models will fit in the opening I have. The dryer would be a fairly inexpensive fix, but may as well get both new at the same time, esp if I'm switching brands on the stackables. And I have a friend who just moved and needs a dryer. Any appliance experts out there?

Hey ya'll this is what the response I got from Fury:

You do not need to be on the boat with the teenagers but you will have to check them in and sign the release forms.

Should you decide to ride along and watch them fly the rider price is $10 ea., space available. You may decide whether to go along or not at the time of check in.

Thank you for choosing Fury,
Debbie

As for the stack... I read horror stories, but honestly, if your kids don't do things as I was told would/could happen at home they probably won't do it on the ship. We live in a very rural area... my dd goes to high school with 7-12 grade students & is used to the atmosphere. If she is uncomportable, she will leave. I think, thou, if there are enough that stick together they will be fine. Atleast I'm trying to convience myself of this! :)
