Day 1 - Wednesday June 1st - 2005

We left Miami approximately 10:30 am, arrived at the Magic Kingdom property by 2 pm. Normally, we would stay at the Super 8 the night before our vacation starts, because we usually have to leave Miami late and since we're only there to sleep for the night its very cost effective . This trip I decided to try something different and tricked Melissa we had to be in Orlando early for some reason or another.

Today I had two surprises for Melissa, one of them was our stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We've never stayed here before and since we were just going to lounge around the resort anyway I figured this would be a great way to start the vacation. So we arrived, I surprised Melissa with the one night stay and I also gave her a Surgeon Mickey plush doll. Checked in, got a complimentary upgrade from standard to courtyard view. Our room was ready right away, so we went in there relaxed for a bit and decided to go do some shopping!

We headed over to Downtown Disney, purchased some goodies and left for the Big River Brewery and Grille at the Boardwalk to celebrate. We had the amazing Wowzer's Wheat beer and recieved a couple of complimentary round of beers since the bartendar liked our appreciation for wheat beers. We also nibbled on some tasty chicken quesadillas that complimented the beer very well. We then returned to the resort got to the room with a surprise of a signed minnie picture and happy birthday balloons for Melissa.

After a bit of relaxing in the room we decided it was pool time! We hit up the jacuzzi, the pool bar, which we got to try out all of their signature drinks. After a little pin trading we decided it was time to visit the Magic Kingdom to see the new version of 'it's a small world.'

We were tired from the drive and a bit woozy from all the drinks so we decided to go back to the resort, where we had room service. We ordered a caeser salad and a pizza with pepperoni, sausage and mushrooms. I know I know, we're at Disney and we're ordering pizza?!?! I tried to make it to Artist Point but I was just way too tired, luckily Melissa didn't mind. We enjoyed parts of Wishes from our balcony, had a few drinks and went to bed!

Day 2- checking out of WL and checking into AKL

Woke up and headed over to Epcot got to try the new attractin Soarin. Rode it twice and have decided it is one of the best rides ever. Afterwards, we went back to the resort and packed up and left for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Checked in the morning and got a complimentary upgrade from standard to arusha savannah view. (more pixie dust for us) :goodvibes

Headed over to Mara's for a quick snack and then got to check out the public savannah views. Decided to go to animal kingdom for a ride on dinosaur and its a bugs life. Decided that its a bugs life is not fun whatsoever and realized how scary dinosaur really is. Went back to the resort, got into our beautiful room and took a pre-dinner nap. :teeth: After getting ready for our dinner we headed over to jikos where they took us to one of the public savannah views outside near the lobby where we were served sparkling wine and various appetizers. Got to meet a few wonderful people and also Anthony the sommelier who took care of us that night. We were then led to the private dining area of jikos and sat down with our new friends as well as a few representatives of the south african wine companies that were there for the wine pairing dinner. After the amazing dinner (which lasted nearly 5 hours),we bought two bottle of the Fleur du Cap pinotage (which is EXCELLENT) and Melissa won a bottle of pinot noir and then was given a bottle of chardonney because as she puts it, "she's cool like that" :cool1: Then, we stumbled back to the room and had the delicious Golden Kaan chardonney, watched the animals and went to bed.
