Hotel Kingdom has Oak Plantation for $59.00 per night for a one bedroom villa, plus book 7 nights and get one free...this has to be too good to be true. Is this place ok for a young family of 4..or has it seen better days quality-wise? "You get what you pay for"
is ringing in my ears!!

I don't believe that this is an undesirable property by any means...friends of ours stayed there (several years ago though) and they had good things to say.

Perhaps the reason it is so inexpensive (comparatively speaking) is because it is a much further drive to the parks than most hotels...I believe it is located approx. 6mi. from the WDW gates ... and that would translate to a long commute with stop and go traffic.

I agree with Shannon...

It used to be a Best Western, I believe and it is a little bit out in the booneys.

Drive and save money.

Herc.

I do not think that this resort used to be a Best Western. It used to be associated with Hampton Inns. From my understanding it might have, at one time, been a condo development. We stayed there 2 different times and found it to be more than adequate. I would even go as far as calling it good. We stayed there in September and December of 98 or 99. This is a really good price and when you factor in the last night free it gets even better. It is not really that far of a drive if you use 535/536 to cut across to the parks and avoid most of the 192 drive. It is only about a mile or so from the SuperWalmart on 192. I would definitely stay there for this price. Keep in mind that they have 2 sizes (at least) of one bedrooms, make sure that get a "larger" one. I would also ask to not be located right by the pools. Good luck in your planning. They have a very neat little water spray area at the pool area. Our 15/18 month old loved it. This is also a gated property, it is about 3 or 4 blocks off of 192.

Is it a time share property? Is attending a sales pitch required to receive that price? Just a question to ask if you are adverse to time share pitches.

I believe that this property is now part of the Sheraton timeshare arm/leg. It was a timeshare under the title of Hampton Oaks Plantation prior to Sheraton "taking it over". I would guess that this is a special being run by Hotel Kingdom or some other room broker and the ts tour is not a requirement. You would most likely be asked if you like to take a "tour" but it would be for some other type of incentive-- cash or tickets or whatnot. Just my gut feeling on this. The OP is not a bad place to stay and the commute is really not very bad. We did it and returned to the property for our, at the time, only son's naps and it was very doable. Maid service was spotty during one of our stays and fine the other. The washer and dryer in the units comes in very handy.
