55th Anniversary - anything special going on?

Just realised that we will be visiting Disneyland on the weekend of the opening date 55 years ago in July. Does anyone know if anything special be happening that weekend? Hope so!

I'm awaiting what will be going on this summer, and anything that may or may not happen as part of the Anniversary. Though I have heard plans were scaled back due to the state of the Economy. But there should be something, right?

Right now, our dates put us there at the same time.

I am banking on something happening. I made reservations months ago for this reason. During the 50th decorations were already up and they stayed up the entire year. So, as of yet there are no special decorations. But, special 55th merchandise has made it's arrival. When we were all anticipating the 50th all we heard were rumors, nothing official. I'm not expecting free Mickey Mouse Ear hats like the 50th, or special park guides, but maybe cupcakes again. The day specific merchandise was really nice as well.

Ooooh cupcakes? Really hope there is something, it's our last day on the 18th, but don't have to leave until 4pmish, so really hope they do something on the actually Anniversary Date.

They have the merchandise up already. The theme is The Happiest Memories on Earth.

Oh thanks so much for that, all the stuff looks great, but will definitely have to get a christmas bauble, as we have quite a collection now from places we've visited in the US, so that's a definite buy!
