so we had tickets to see Rent thursday night.
(we being me, my two sisters and my daughters.)
we agreed to meet at the theater at 7:30 -- my sisters would pick up the kids at school and I would come from work.
so I had two hours to explore Times Square before meeting up with the gang.
I love Times Square, with all the lights, the billboards, the people, the excitement. the huge screen my ABC studios where you can watch the news, the "zipper" at Ones Times Square where you can read headlines,, the crowds at the MTV studio when someone "good" is on the set. the street musicians and the artists who'll do a painting of your name. the protesters handing out leaflets. the hot dog carts.
I love the McDonald's on 42nd Street, with its theater marquee. and if you sit at the counter you get to see a movie about the history of McDonald's and a pictorial about Times Square.
there's a Hello Kitty store on 42nd Street, can you believe it?
and a Cold Stone Creamery, where they sing and cheer as they mix M&M's into your french vanilla.
the Broadway merchandise store at the Marriot Marquis.
the gift shop at Planet Hollywood. or better yet, the one at bubba Gump's.
never managed to get over to Virgin Megastore or Sephora, and I wasn't in the mood for the Toys R Us. though if I'd had time, I would have walked uptown a bit to the Hershey store and Colonie Records.
and oh, yes, the show!
funny how Justin Timberlake wants to turn it into a movie -- he'd make a great Roger, I think. too bad I missed Joey Falcone's recent turn as Mark -- before he went on to play Seymour in Little Shop.
