My sister and I are going to stay at CSR for my 50th birthday in 6 short days!
We want to spend my birthday evening after dinner (Boma) at a nice lounge. Does anyone have a favorite? I haven't been to too many resorts.
Happy Birthday! You could try either the lounge at the Grand Floridian or the Bellevue Lounge in the Boardwalk Inn for quiet drinks. With the Bellevue Lounge you can sit out on the outdoor patio, or in the cozy "library" type lounge. The Grand Floridian lounge is lovely as well, neither of them has any entertainment if that is what you are looking for.
What a great way to spend your birthday - enjoy!
I remember once my sis and I stayed late at a resort and couldnt find (an easy) way back to our resort. Are there "late" buses/boats/monorails for us grown-ups going out for late drinks, I'm thinking of the GF to CSR? ie.resort to resort. That way maybe we could go to more than one
Its a kind of a transportation/dining question.
Since you are already going to be at AKL for dinner, just go to the lounge there. It is on the second floor and overlooks Boma. It's a great place.
As for your other question, there is no resort to resort transportation. To get from AKL to another resort, you will have to take a bus to a park and then Disney transportation from that park to the second resort. Your best bet to get around is to take a taxi.
Yes, I would think a taxi is the best and easiest way to go especially at the end of the night. The lounge at AKL is also a great place. Perhaps take a look at it before having dinner and then decide.
You could always take a bus from AKL to Epcot and take the monorail to TTC and then to GF, or take a bus to Hollywood Studios and a bus from there to GF. Either way, I would end the night in a taxi back to your hotel.

First, Happy 50th birthday. We celebrated my 50th at the CSR last year.
There is a new lounge, Rix, at the CSR...then you wouldn't have to worry about transportation back. Unfortunately, it was not open when we were there in September, but it is now.
