50th Antennae Toppers?

I change ours weekly. Right now, the 50 year topper is on and I'm changing it to the Mousketeer one next week. Now, if I could just start remembering to take them off before I go through the car wash-DOH!

I think the only way I remember is that I have to remove my entire antenna for automatic car washes.

I, too, have quite a collection. I have one for every season and every holiday. Have you seen the one for Easter? Its a yellow Easter egg with lavender ears.

Anyway, I thought one way to display them would be to get the old fashioned memo/message holders like used to be used in offices where canceled memos and bills would be impailed on those spikes on peoples' desk. But where to find them? Office supply stores such as Office Depot still carry them. They have a rubber/vinyl cap on the tip for safety. They are about $2 each. You can get black, gold tone, or white. I plan on counting my antena toppers and getting one for each and grouping them in a display case.

I've been collecting the toppers and use them as Christmas tree ornaments.

Oh, what a cute idea! I'm going to have to start buying them in two's - one for the car and one for the tree!

Thanks for the Christmas tree ornaments idea. I love to get special things for our tree each year. Stupid question do they say 2005 on them? We are not going until 2006.

I am getting a new car, I hope it has an antenna as I would love to decorate it with a pretty topper such as this one! I'd fear it'd get stolen or ruined in bad weather, though. Do they stay on nicely?

They do stay on very well...unless you drive under low tree branches. My wife found this out thanks to a thin tree branch overhanging the street where our baby sitter lives. Anyway, they will stay on remarkably well at interstate speeds. Never lost one because of wind.

However, they will soil over time unless you get the plain black ones. This is mostly because of road film. You can either get extras or use paint markers to refresh the design. It isn't just like new, but at 55 mph, who can tell!

I wish the DIS would sell lime green Mickey toppers. Wouldn't that be so cool to see one driving by or have one parked near you at a store....

For those of you who have the gold 50th Mickey topper -- does the glitter come off in the rain? I bought one last weekend but am afraid to put it on the car. Don't want the rain to ruin it.

Our new car did not have an antenna. I took a suction cup that had a hollow center and stuck a red k'nex stick in it. DCL Cap't Mickey fits perfectly on the passenger side dash; it does not obstruct the view and will not get dirty!

Just got back from WDW and believe it or not, I didn't buy a 50th aniversary topper! We are going back in October and will buy them then. I don't know why we didn't buy some this trip, but we didn't. Anyway, I think the glitter would wear off eventually. This is probably why they are painted under the glitter. I will probably buy extras to replace the worn toppers and probably buy a couple of extras that won't make it to the top of the antennaes for souveniers. I like the idea of hanging them on the Christmas tree, too.
