I noticed Poly didn't have any, and then it dawned on me that is 360 rooms. That is DVCM messing with something, you know all 360 weren't all booked ahead. So I did a quick availability check on all the WDW on property resorts. No rooms for those dates.
What does this mean? DVC is a big money maker for Disney. Are they going to rent them for cash? Or are they just temporarily pulling them so they can attach a special surprise to each booking? Has anyone booked 9/30-10/2 at the 11 month mark, and have you had any communication from DVC?
Interesting.
I am really not a conspiracy theorist, but I often see the accusations here on the DIS of DVC holding back rooms or pulling them so they are unavailable for members. I always thought it may be happening, but just a very few. This jumped out at me.

What does this mean? DVC is a big money maker for Disney. To block us out of our rooms---is playing dirty. Are they going to rent them for cash? Or are they just temporarily pulling them so they can attach a special surprise to each booking? Has anyone booked 9/30-10/2 at the 11 month mark, and have you had any communication from DVC?
Interesting.
It appeared that they had been pulling a lot of rooms in advance but people were still able to make reservations over that period (I have an AKV Value Studio booked covering those dates). I've seen the 1st pop up in studios for a few resorts recently so just keep watching.

You do realize the booking window for the 50th opened over a month ago? Most people planning to stay booked then.

There were some rooms available at the time, but it was clear that a lot of rooms that typically weren't being walked (like near-HH OKW studios) were for these dates as they were so popular. Note: I only paid attention to the studio availability at the time.

Your best bet is waitlisting if you plan to be there on 9/30 and 10/1.

Oh, and as a reminder to those who weren't paying attention to Park Pass reservations, the Annual Passholder allotment for Magic Kingdom on the 50th has been sold out for weeks. (These are Annual Passholders WITHOUT a room reservation.)

Wow, an AKV Value. Lucky man, and quick on the computer.:)
Let us know if they communicate with you regarding those dates.

Thank you. I am not looking for those dates. But, as I said, was just looking ahead, and struck that 360 Poly studios were taken already. Didn't look kosher. That is why I did the search on all the on-property resorts.

I don't think it is management. I think that is actual demand.
If there weren't holes occurring ahead of 11 months I would agree. I do think there was extremely high demand for Oct 1 but also that rooms were pulled in advance.

I think had those units been available at 11 months OP would be seeing the same thing today. They would not be available.

Those dates required 11 months, which was over a month back.

I booked for end of September / early October weeks ago. There was plenty of availability when I was looking for Sep 30/Oct 1. Didn’t check all resorts but nothing seemed fishy to me then. Just looked like people walking some reservations, as expected.

We booked at 11 months and I recently called MS and renewed our Gold AP’s that expire 6/2021 and promptly booked our park passes. Just reiterating that the “60 day prior, 30 after” AP renewal limitation is being waived currently.

Remember, there is a huge number of banked points from the Covid cancellations that people want to use. I banked all 345 of my June 2020 points, giving me 690 points to use by June 1, 2022. But, I'm using them all, plus 19 borrowed from 2022, for a GV and a 2 bedroom lockoff over Thanksgiving week, 2021. I'm walking that reservation at OKW now, so I would assume many other owners did the same thing for the actual 50th Anniversary dates, and the rooms were taken mostly by members.

Well, from all the responses, I guess I was wrong, and it was member bookings.
So, no dirty deeds here, resume your normal discussions.:o

Wouldn't the celebration go on for more than those 2 days? Like possibly the whole month of October?

We were able to score an AKV Value 1 bedroom for the same time. See you there!

While not Poly, I am currently holding 5 rooms of different sizes over that time period because we are not sure who is going, or if we are going but i hedged my bets,

So, I definitely think it’s members who booked.
