50sPrimeTime (lunch)&Sci Fi Drive In (dindin)

I really enjoyed the Prime Time Cafe. Our waitor was great! He picked on my husband through the whole dinner. If you get a waitor like we did you have to have a sense of humor. He made my husband take his hat off at the table, he asked me what color the soap was when I got back to the table after visiting the ladies room...he was great!

We did the Sci Fi for lunch. It was dark, and even though it was cute to sit in cars while you eat, I didn't like it by the end of the meal. My husband sat next to me and there was another family in the back seat. I didn't care for it, but the food was still good and our waitor was nice.

Both restaurants have an interesting atmosphere. Sci-Fi Drive-In should be a hit with children that age; they get to "eat in cars" and watch promos for old low-budget sci-fi flicks, with a few cartoons mixed in. 50's Prime-Time appeals more to adults, especially those old enough to have been children during that time. But the servers there are playful and help to entertain children.

The food is good at 50's, large servings of "comfort food" such as pot roast, meat loaf, and fried chicken, and not too unreasonably priced for Disney.

The food is fine at Sci-Fi if you stick to burgers and similar food; we've only had lunch there, not dinner. It seems to be more expensive than 50's Prime Time.

I would recommend doing the opposite -- lunch at Sci-Fi; dinner at 50's. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it either way.

Our must do with our kids is Sci Fi Diner, they love it and have every year for the last 8. Our kids are varied ages 2 year old twins, an 8 year old and a 15 year old. Just be careful on the glow in the dark cups, we got hot dogs and fries . Mom got the tomato salad my fave. Yet the bill was like 62.00 dollars. It seems the nifty glowing cups are like 7 dollars each, in addition to the kids meal, not included. So 28 dollars worth of cups... Live and learn I guess. Still it would probaly be the best bet for your little ones you and they will love it.

We love the 50's Prime Time. It is a must for us on every trip. We love the food, but I have read several reviews of those who do not. I think it is just a matter of personal preferences. We love fried chicken, chile fries, and s'mores!

We absolutely LOVE both places!!! You and your kids will have a blast!!

I think both places are great. We experienced both of them on our 2001 trip and both of my kids enjoyed them. Therefore, we are going to eat at both of them in 12/03.

They have different atmospheres, but IMHO they are the two best restaurants at MGM!!

Have Fun!
Kim:D

I would reverse my schedule and do Sci-Fi for lunch. It's a fun place but I find the food to be yucky and overpriced and the seating to be a little cramped.

We love "50" Prime Time Cafe for dinner. You are seated in a "50's" style kitchenette. There are black and white TV's showing clips from some of the more popular TV comedies of the fifties. Our waiter was Cousin Carlo's, he was lots of fun and made our dinner experience special. Plus the food is good.

I agree with erikthewise about switching the 2 restaurants. 50's Prime time is better for dinner than Sci-fi. Both will be a blast for the children.

I have never eaten at 50's but I have had 2 bad experiences at Sci-Fi. IMHO the food at Sci-Fi was just terrible .... and I had a hamburger one of the times. Of all of the trips I have taken to WDW this is the first and only place that I have had a bad experience let alone 2.

we have eaten at 50'sPT twice for lunch with 3 kids (we'll be going back in July:D ) My kids all love this place-they would be very disappointed if we didn't go!

We have eaten at both many, many times. The 50s PT is still a must on our list for several visits during each trip. We no longer go to the Sci Fi. We love the theme, but hate the food. Our grandson's favorite place at MGM is Hollywood and Vine for lunch. We find the price is pretty good, and he loves the selection, along with the characters. We like to do Hollywood and Vine for dinner when we are by ourselves because it's quieter (no characters).

My kids (11.5, 9.5 and 8) love the Prime Time Cafe! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: We are in the process of planning our meals for our June trip and it was unanimous that we go back to the Prime Time. The food is wonderful--all good comfort foods. The waiters make the meal even more fun. Our favorite is Auntie Claire!
