50's PTCafe What's good? What's not?

I had the pot roast and it was terrible. Very tough and hard to eat. Nothing like the excellent (and always delicious) pot roast at LTT for lunch.

Also, the Grampa's Sundae (or something like that) is nothing like the description. It, too, was terrible.

For me Prime Time is a "been there, done that" kind of place.

I thought the Chicken Ceasar salad was okay. Not great, but okay. In the interest of full disclosure, I like to go this restaurant because it reminds me of my grandmother's house but it's not really the style of food I enjoy. DH likes the pot roast and when we went in December DM liked her salmon. I thought the smores dessert was unpalatable but lots of people like it so it's just a matter of taste:) .

We tried the 50's PTCafe for the first time this past December. We'd heard so much about it we just had to try it for ourselves.

We didn't have an ADR and got in after about a 10-minute wait. The atmosphere is great, :thumbsup2 but the food we didn't think was so great.

DH got the meatloaf and said it was ok but he'd had better; I tried a bite and I had to agree. I had the fish sandwich which was ok. Unfortunately I ended up getting a little sick to my stomach afterwards but nothing serious - don't know if it was that or what, but at least it didn't last long. :)

Overall, I think we might try it again, but I agree with Deb & Bill "been there, done that".

It is hard to pick just one favorite here. I have tried the chicken, pot roast, and the pork loin. All were very, very good. On our trip this August, I want to try something new, but think that I will end up with the pork again. I really liked this best! But all are good!!! And the desserts are very good, too!

We have had the pot roast, chick pot pie, Slamon. All were very good and my DH thinks the Salmon is among the best he has ever eaten.:)

We are there in November, had the milkshakes, onion rings, and fried chicken. Everything was good and the server was excellent.

I had the pb&j milkshake and it was the best thing I have ever had Yum! Everyone in my party(11) said yuck but tried it and they loved it too!

Love the PB and J Shakes and enjoy the Meatloaf and Fried Chicken.pirate:
Elbows off the table. Make sure to eat your veggies and eat what you are served. You may get a clean plate award. And please don't forget to ask for a potty pass.:thumbsup2

Sounds like alota fun!

My favorites are the meatloaf and fried chicken. You don't have to settle for those nasty green beans either. You can ask for corn. Much better! You can also ask for rolls and butter. I can't eat mashed potatoes and gravy without rolls and they were happy to give us a whole basket full. I love the Smores but unfortunately it is half its size now due to the DDP but it is the same price.

We're trying out 50's PT Cafe in February. Just wondering if the green beans are the kind that are really crisp, not mushy. They look crisp in the pictures.

Thanks for your input!

The green beans are very hard. I like mushy ones so I can't stand theirs. I've never had them crisp, just hard and chewy.

I like them mushy too. DH likes them steamed, sorta crispy. I couldn't think how to describe them. I guess they crunch when you eat them.

THANKS!

My Dh & I have eaten @ the 50's Prime Time twice now. The first time we paid out of pocket. This past September when we ate there we were on the Dining Plan. Let's just say we were stuffed the 1st time but after eating there on the Dining Plan we were double stuffed. We have ordered the same thing both times - Dh gets fried chicken with the mashed potatoes and green beans. I have the meat loaf (extra ketchup) with mashed potatoes and green beans. Since we were on the dining plan this past September we of course got appetizers - Dh got the shrimp cocktail and I got the cesar salad -- both were WONDERFUL!! Now dessert was good this past September but our 1st trip to the 50's was the best. Dh had the chocolate sunde and I had the Snickers Cheesecake -- the what you ask ? Yes I said the Snickers Cheesecake-- but much to my sadended dismay this past September I learned it is no longer on the menu (RATS!!) So Dh had the huge sunde thing- you know w/the carmel corn and M&M's-- he ate all of it !!!!! I had the apple cobbler w/the vanilla ice cream. It was good but it was no Snickers Cheesecake.
This is one of our favorite places!! We are planning a large family trip to Disney this September (our 1st BIG trip as DVC Members ) and we are so excited to take our nieces and nephews there. They will just love it.... And I'm sure my Dh's grand mother will to.

Well, it looks like its the pot roast then. That or the meatloaf. I've had so much bad fried chicken, I can hardly look at a piece of fried chicken. But, if the fried chicken is so so good at PTC Cafe, I might give it a try.

We all loved the Pot Roast. Very tender. The meatloaf (no ketchup...eww), and the fried chicken are really good too. The smores is way to sweet for me, but I managed to eat about half ;)
