Which would you do for lunch at HS with small kids? 50's PT or Brown Derby? We ate at BD once before we had kids and it was very good. I also remember going to 50's when I was a teenager. Not sure which has better food but I thought we'd like the dessert more at 50's. Any opinions on which is better for lunch at HS?

Personally, I wasn't overimpressed with Brown Derby. Thought it just okay and definitely not worth two credits on the dining plan. Our kids used to love 50's Prime Time and I would go there.

I would think the 50's would be better with children. It is very family friendly. It also has "homecooked" type food.
If you are on the DDP 50's is 1 TS credit and the Brown Derby is 2 TS credits.
If you are not, I think the BD is expensive.
Have a Great Trip

I prefer 50's PT, with or without small children. The atmosphere is so Disney and the food is good. Brown Derby is expensive, food not worth the cost (or the 2TS) and the atmosophere is nothing exciting.

We haven't tried 50's, but I'd like to give it a try someday for lunch. I mostly want to go to see the theming, but not experience it. In other words, I like the 50's theme, but I want a server & only a server. My family doesn't want to be scolded when eating, whether it's in fun or not. I know that doesn't help you though. :0

As far as HBD goes, we ate there last month & it was the best meal of our trip. When we ate there a few years ago, we were less than impressed, but we're glad we finally decided to give it another try. Anyone who hasn't been fairly recently may want to give it another try, before forming or expressing an opinion. You never know, you may love it this time. I do agree that the atmosphere isn't anything special at HBD.

If you are one the DDP I dont think 2TS are worth it for brown derby. I am also not a fan of PT but if I was bringing kids i would go there, only one tanle setting. I know when my son was younger he did like it there:)

My DW and I really like the BD for both lunch and dinner. That being said, with children I think 50's PT is better. We dined there for lunch in October and really enjoyed the food. I had the meat loaf and a hot fudge sundae for dessert. :thumbsup2

My adult daughter had the turkey wrap and my DW had a salad and a vanilla coke. The food was good and the 50's atmosphere was fun. Our "cousin"asn't that much into the theme, but that was OK with us. I didn't get yelled at for my elbows on the table. :)

I didn't particularly care for our visit to PT in August, but it was fun for our kid and in WDW that is what really matters.

Prime Time. The atmosphere is more fun I think. Ds (5) enjoyed all the "rules" etc...and we all got a good laugh when the waiter hand fed my husband the mashed potatoes that he had left on his plate. Later we were presented with a "special dessert" when our friend's son didn't finish his veggies. It was fun.

Tim loved Brown Derby..I thought it was good as well but with the kids I would have to go with Prime Time!

My kids LOVE:love: 50's Primetime and we go now EVERY trip!
This is OT but my kids also LOVE Sci-Fi too....

We loved 50s PT. My boys were having a little over tired melt down, but they still liked it.
How young are your kids? We went to H&V Play and Dine and they had a blast. Lots of singing and dancing for the kids.

We love 50s Prime Time. I havent been to Brown Derby, but 50s Prime Time is an absolutely must do restaurant each trip.

50's Prime Time - I really don't like anything on Brown Derby's menu

Never eaten at Brown Derby...but many times at 50's Prime Time, food was consistantly good there.
