We currently have lunch ADR for Sci-Fi, but I am really waffling back and forth between that and 50s Prime Time. I think it was the photo of Dad's Sundae that got me, lol! I will honestly say that the only thing that looks appealing to both DH and I on the Sci-Fi menu is the burger...it's mainly for the ambiance that we booked this. But our girls are young (7 and 4 at time of trip) so I wonder if they wouldn't care anyway.

So anyway...which do you prefer? Please vote!

Oh, and if you have another suggestion for lunch in DHS, please share. We are already doing Brown Derby one night, so something different.

HANDS DOWN 50's Prime Time!. I mean Sci-fi is a fun atmosphere. It's cute to sit in those little cars, but the food is so-so and the cars don't seat many at a time. 50's Prime Time has great food ( imho ) and it just an all around fun experience.

The food is excellent at both. We prefer the SciFi because the sandwiches and salads are wonderful, and not something we would make at home. The 50's Prime Time has very good food, but it is the exact same things we make at home (meatloaf, pot roast, mashed potatoes, etc.) The food there is very hardy (read: filling), too, and after a meal at the 50's Prime Time, you may not want to do anything else the rest of the day, except to go back to your room and lay down!

If you do decide on the 50's Prime Time cafe, the 'Smores are outstanding. Sometimes, we'll stop in the lounge area and sit at the bar and have a cold beer and a plate of 'Smores as a snack. It is wonderful!

If you choose the SciFi, I recommend the Beef & Blue Salad (Steak Salad with real blue cheese). Just amazingly declicious. My wife loves the Smoked Turkey Sandwich, especially for the cucumber melon salad that comes with it.

When we ate at 50s PT I didn't care for all of the
interaction and pretending--I was not in the mood
and wanted to just eat and get out of there ASAP.
It was also very noisey but we were very close to the Kitchen.
Our Server/COUSIN was from another Country (must have been the old Country)
and I could hardly understand her with the strong accent.
I could not eat another bite but they will continue to push you to
eat more- I didn't care for that.

We just went to Sci Fi this past October with my girls...4 and 7 and my friend and her girls....4 and 6. The girls were all a bit scared of some of the movies they were showing. Hadn't even thought about that being an issue for them. They are afraid of little else, so it was interesting. No one cried or anything, but they did put their heads down to not see. Plus the place is dark. VERY cool place to go.

But I voted for 50s for you, just based on your kids ages!

I love both of these places but I think if I had to choose I like 50's Prime Time just a little bit better! The fried chicken and Dad's Sundae are excellent!

I loved 50's Diner. Great Fried Chicken and Dh loved Pot Roast. We had really horrible service at the Sci-Fi. I actually called and complained.

Havent eaten at either yet but we have a Lunch ADR for Sci-Fi. So I vote Sci-Fi..I can let you knwo when I get back!

We had bad service & bad food at the Sci Fi. The concept is great but while we were there they played the same clips of movies 3 times. (for those of you who have gone was this wrong or do they usually just keep repeating over and over?)

Just got back last night and had dinner at 50's prime time and lunch at sci fi.

I am surprised at people's reviews of the food. I never go to disney expecting much but the food at both was nothing with nothing and pretty sub par for a disney dining experience. My kids disliked the aggressive servers at 50's prime time. They knew it was acting but it was a little annoying.

That being said, at least you have atmosphere at sci fi diner. I agree that the car seating is a little strange but I think kids would like it.

Anything other than those!!! Sci Fi doesn't have food as bad as 50's does, but the food at 50's is awful!! I sure don't eat that bad every day!!! When you see the root vegetable hash, back away from the plate, slowly put down your fork and back away from the plate!!!! That mess is awful!!!!

If that was all that was available, I would live off of potato chips!!!

I voted for the PRime Time based on your kids ages. We tried to eat at teh Sci Fi when DD was about 4. The campy B movies on the screen scared the beejeebees out of her. She was totally terrorized and we never even managed to sit at the table. She remembers it as worse than it was and still won't dine there (she is 11 now--but it is a really bad memory for her).

I had Si-Fi on my list of places, my kids are young 5y/o, 2y/o, 1y/o so now I'm re-thinking it with all the scared kids and bad food talk. What movies do they play there?

SCI-FI screens a loop of scenes from old "B" space movies from the 50's.
Our child was 11 and enjoyed it. Our food and service was great.

It is dark and that might be a big detractor for younger kids. The "tables" are small and we had to sit facing away from each other. One in front 2 in back of the "car" but otherwise it was a fun time.

Wasn't into role playing after being in the heat all day so 50's PT wasn't much of an option for us. For supper we took the water taxi to EPCOT it lands you by the Great Britain Pavillion.

Since you said lunch, I voted for Sci-Fi. If you wanted dinner, I would've said PT.

By far the worse meal we have ever eaten was at the Sci-Fi Cafe.

We loved the 50's Prime time so much we ate there 3 times on our last vacation. The pot roast is awesome. It is a "play along" resturant though so if you are not into getting bugged to eat your veggies and so on you may not like this restaurant.

Both places serve very large meals. I would think of them more as a dinner meal or mail meal of the day.

If you want a quick mid day bit I would suggest a counter service.

We have lunch at Sci Fi almost every trip. We skipped it last year and DD5 has already requested that it be on the list for this year. She wants to go back. We stick with safe choices though... burgers and milkshakes, onion rings, we've also enjoyed the artichoke dip and chili appetizers. The sundae is good too.

As for ordering burgers at dinner, I've read that you can with no problem, though I haven't tried it myself. We have dinner booked for September so I'll find out then. I couldn't fit lunch into my itinerary so I had to make a dinner ADR instead. :goodvibes

No contest 50's Prime time. I am convined that you eat in the dark at sci-fi for a reason:lmao: .

 Everyone has their own taste. We really didn't like the food at the 50's Prime Time Diner. I had the fried chicken and DH had the meatloaf. They were both terrible in our opinion. We are looking forward to our dinner at Sci-Fi Dine In in April. We plan on sticking to the burgers, onion rings and shakes. Those always seem to get good reviews. :thumbsup2 It's when people start ordering more "elaborate" food there that the reviews seem to be bad.
