We were having trouble booking a 7top so we went with as 3 and 4. Times are 5 minutes apart if we ask nicely for close tables should they be able to accommodate us if it requires us waiting a few minutes? Thought about dropping by a few hours before time to give them a heads up and maybe a "handshake"

The way the restaurant is set up I think that would be a reasonable request. There's several tables that can be moved together. You'll probably get some friendly banter though and might have to eat extra peas at dinner or sing!

It depends on what you mean by "handshake",

1. do you mean handshake

2. or do mean handshake like "nice to meet you, hows the family, say hi to the misses".

As Rusty posted, 1 will get the CM fired but 2 may work but the CM two hours earlier may not be the same one that seats you. But you will have a new friend so all is not lost.

we just returned from trip with party of 9.

2 of my adr's I had to split into 5 and 4 like you did in order to get tables.

one of the restaurants (Tusker) combined us, and the other (Momma Melrose) did not.

guess is it's just going to depend on availability - certainly I'd think they would accomodate you if they are able.

I have seen tables pushed together there.
Last time we were there in the back room there was probably a group of 10. They took up the side tables and one of the tables around the booth curve.
