Made our ADR for the the 50's for August. My question is my DH and I haven't eaten there since our honeymoon 12 years ago and now we will be going with DS's ages 9 & 7. My DH saw on the menu fried chicken. How is it? What about the rest of the food. Any input would be appreciated. :)

Our family really enjoy 50's. The food is wonderful -- chicken is great. The servings are huge and can easily be split. That way you can save room for their great desserts. Dad's sundae is our favorite.

If you are on the dining plan I would pay out of pocket for this one. It is not a great deal on the dining plan.

My family loves the 50s Prime Time. The food is good and kind of reminds me of "home" cooking. They offer things like fried chicken, meatloaf, roast beef - you know, just like "mom" used to make. I think because it is so "American" kids seem to like it and it is very filling. Plus the silly things they do there, like get on the "adults" for not finishing their vegetables or having their elbows on the table are things that kids love because it is something they have gotten tasked about at home when you are teaching them table manners.

I will second that I think that the chicken is great!!

I ate there at the bar for dinner last June - just stopped in b/c of rain I think. They didn't have any tables available - we didn't have a table reserved. I was just with DD6 and DS8 at the time. The kids' menu is similar to all the Disney restaurants (kids had hot dogs). I had the fried chicken - I'm not a big eater and usually don't do unhealthy fried food much. But it was really GOOD! I ate it all, and I thought the price was reasonable. The kids liked the glow in the dark ice cube drinks (okay, rip off as they were more than the dinner price, and the kids' meals already come with a drink, but it was our last night and so I treated them). I definitely would go back (plan on it in April) and sit at a table. I think you'll like it!

I had the meatloaf on our last trip and it was delish! Dh had some kind of chicken sandwich and he liked it a lot. DD ordered the PB&J sandwich and I forgot it was a crustable and she wouldn't eat it. We just shared our dinner with her.

Jenn Lynn -- I don't mean to sound mean but couldn't you have just cut the crust off :confused3

We were there this past Aug, Like you we visted a long time ago,

If you liked the food 12 years ago, you may be disappointed this time.

Items we liked (Autie Sallie chicken salad ) for one is no longer offered, and the lunch meals are more like dinners than lunch now.

Its still a fun place to eat but the menu is not as good now.

She didn't like the whole crust/dough thing it was in. It's not crust like on bread.

Here's a link if you don't know what it is. It's actually called Uncrustables. DD had never had one before and wasn't about to eat it there. :)

Fried Chicken, Meatloaf and the Pot Roast.

I second the fried boursin cheese appetizer! So much better than fried cheese sticks. In fact, next time I'm going just for this and any of their desserts and I will pay out of pocket for me... :thumbsup2

We had a great time at 50's Prime Time. The sweetpea and I split the fried chicken. We were glad that we did. The portion was huge. They were kind enough to split it and plate it for us in the back. Chicken was very good. The potatoes were yummy. Even the green beans were good. But save room for the Smores. We were able to share those as well. Yummy!

I had both the Fried Chicken and the Pot Roast. They are both excellent. I really loved the Pot Roast it melted in your mouth. For desert I had the plain cheese cake so good. The meatloaf is not to good.

I usually get the fried chicken and DW alternates between the meatloaf and pot roast. All of which we think are good.

here are a couple of Prime Time plate photos...the food here is very good

DH had the pork tenderloin with root veggie hash. Very good. He wouldn't hesitate to get it again. I tasted it, as well, and thought it was excellent.

I had the pasta primavera with grilled veggies, scallops and shrimp...out of this world. I can almost never finish those big pasta dishes at home, but I finished it here! Very light-tasting, as well, and refreshing after a hot day at the parks.

We live in what's considered "the deep south," so restaurants that offer meatloaf, pot roast, chicken pot pies and fried chicken are abundant here. I was very pleased to see other options on the menu besides just homestyle cookin'.

We had vodka tonics which, while pricey, packed quite a punch :teeth: Well worth the $$$.

Our dessert was a birthday cake with white chocolate filling. Very nice.

We were with a party of 11, and everyone else enjoyed the more traditional homestyle type meals, and everyone had clean plates by the end...well, except my BIL who ended up being fed his carrots by our server if he wanted dessert, LOL.

DH and I are very much looking forward to our next meal there.
