So tell me exactly what to expect. Do you really have to eat everything on your plate and what horrible things do they do or say to you if you don't? Maybe I'll just order a small bowl of soup and play it safe.

we have been there twice and had totally different experiences.

our first experience was fabulous. We had a great waitress who played it up well - but didn't over do it. she had a great attitude and the kids loved her sense of humor. she wansn't over bearing and NO, she didn't make us eat everything on our plates, although we did have to keep your elbows off teh table.

Our second experience was just average. Our waiter was not into it at all and it was just your average ordinary dinner. Food was great but not a whole lot of interaction with him.

I guess it just depends on who you get....but we enjoy the food!

We had Manny.

He was into it, but he said if people want to be left out of the "antics" then they just need to let him know. :goodvibes

He was funny. He "punished" the tattlers, those with elbows on the table, and those who did not eat their vegetables (here comes the airplane!). :rotfl:

Hahahaha no it's all in good fun. They don't say horrible things to you. It's all joking. Plus it depends on how into it your server is. It's a lot of fun! I suggest you go. And get the Smores for dessert. MMM! :)

While you may be embarrassed, they don't force you to eat everything. Generally the servers can gauge the person and may let up a little if they don't seem like they will play along.

We usually get the fried chicken, meatloaf or pot roast.

This is what our experiences have been on our numerous visits to the 50's Prime Time. The servers seem really good at judging who want to play along, and who doesn't.

This has been our experience too. We've eaten there many times and we usually just go for the food not the antics. They usually pick up pretty quickly if you want to play along or not

Last time we ate there our waitress was just ok. She wasn't really in to it at all. So I just Got another ADR for this trip in March and I hope we have a better waiter/waitress. The food was good. My kids enjoyed looking around at all of the old stuff on the walls. :cheer2:

I think it totally depends on your server...we went and our server was not really in to it, but a couple tables over they were singing little bunny foo foo and the father was horrified!

We have been 3x and every time we have never had a fun server, and its not like we weren't willing to play. I had a riot with my server at WCC. I guess we just get stuck with the regular ones.

We had a marginal server. He went through the efforts of the game but HE seemed like he had little enjoyment of it. I guess I should give him credit for trying but I was a little disappointed compared to what was happening at the tables around us with other servers.
Our ds was really upset (he was 4 at the time) that we did not get to sit at a table with a TV. That sort of started off the meal on a bad tone.
Our food was decent - not the best I have ever had and certainly not the worst.

I have to agree that you can have a different experience each time. On our first, our waiter did not really joke with us - food was really good though. When we went back this past December (brought Mom and DSis25 with us), our waitress was great. She kept telling us we had to eat everything and yelled at DH for eating DD's food for her. She even "yelled" at my Mom telling her to MYOB (my sister thought that was the funniest think and proclaimed it to be the "best restaurant ever!"). She warned DH and DS to get their elbows off the table or we would not get dessert and another waitress even came by and took DH's hat off and gave it to me. WE really had a great time!

ASK for a server that is "into" it!

last time we asked for Anas ( he now wears a new name badge due to too many jokes about his name).

I took a list with me of great servers others have listed, I just went down the list till I got one!
suggested :
Anas!!!!
Aunt Claire
Cousin Chris
Topher
Cousin Brenda

& YES if you have to wait for one of them it is well WORTH it!!! :thumbsup2
(watching someone from your table being stood in the corner , or having to sing I'm a little teapot,,,,,,,,, worth it! :rotfl2: )

*hint,, know the color of the bathroom soap... & my daughter (age 27) was sent back after being asked the color of the walls!

We have only been once, and unfortunately we were let down. I had read all the fun stuff on the net, and our waiter didn't do anything fun at all. It was kind of a bummer, because other tables seemed to be having fun, but our waiter was a dud. The food was okay, but nothing memorable. It was one of our least favorite places on our trip. But you never know, others love it. I don't think the CM's realize how much affect they have, they can make or break it for you.
Good luck with your trip. It might be worth asking for a waiter that is "into it".

We were there six years ago -- We had Aunt Brenda back then -- Hopefully our "Aunt Brenda" is the same waitress who is listed as "Cousin Brenda" in Muffyn's post above? She really was excellent! And how completely awesome it would be if we could have Aunt/Cousin Brenda when we return in 2 weeks!

Our waitress gave all the kids nicknames (sport, junior, sparky) -- and all the names fit the kids perfectly. I did not "clean my plate" -- I ordered fried chicken and there was SO MUCH food! I was given a "clean-plate" sticker but she marked a black line through it and stuck it on my tank top (and then remarked how I was half naked in the restaurant).

We had a TERRIFIC time. We are returning to WDW in two weeks and all of my (now teenage) boys wanted to return to Prime Time because of our prior wonderful experience. Hopefully we won't be disappointed!

This seem to be the one place we continually have dinner at. The food is OK. Sometimes you get a great server that makes your evening, other times a server that good but not into the antic's.

I've never had a server that over the top though.

On one visit we had a great server named Carlos. Was there with 2 of my Grandchildren. They really enjoyed him. Called Granddaughter Princess, and made sure her brother didn't tease her too much. Naturally he teased her more. Carlos made him stand up with his nose against the wall. All the other servers walking by let out a na-nana-na-na-na! GD loved it and it sure did make for a lot of laughs.

Another evening was there with 2 of my younger GD. They wore their "50" outfit Poodle skirts and saddle shoes. Our waitress thought their outfits were great. Everytime someone new was seated she made them get up in the middle of the room and spin around. What could be better for 2 7-year olds then have them put in the middle of a room spinning around like ballerinas.

Yes it can be a fun place for young and old if your willing to go along with the antics. It sure does make for some wonderful future memories.

Our trip last September my Mom (who was ill but in good spirits) didn't eat all her vegies and Cousin Jimmy had her do the "here comes the airplane" with the entire room making the airplane sound. I thought she was going to choke trying to eat and laugh at the same time. Oh to have had my camera out!

Our recent trip in February I wish I could remember our server's name. She was a riot. She had a table of 12 next to us but kept us (two adults) in the antics as well. She got onto DBF for elbows on the table and put a Little Mermaid bib on me because I was wearing a white jacket over my shirt - it had turned cold.

Both were just great fun. But you have to be open to it. And remember each server is different and there might be a reason they are having an "off" day.

I agree about the fried chicken - had it last time and the portions were huge!

First time we went we had a waitress that did not do ANYTHING at all :confused3 .

Second time it was great but I was there with friends not my family.

This year I am planning to take the family back......can you really, really ask for a waiter/waitress that is INTO it......that would be great!!!
