Sci-Fi is a different experience than you can get at home. Burger/Shake lunch is what we like best but you can ask for the Burger at dinner also.

50's was interesting to us because we are from the 50's generation. Not sure it would be the same for everyone. Remembered alot from our childhood. The fried chicken is really good there. (1/2 chicken)

We had a very mediocre dinner at 50's last year and a great lunch at Sci-Fi. Their hamburgers and shakes are great and the atmosphere can't be beat. 50's was fun, too, but it didn't make up for the poor quality of the food.

We didn't care for Primetime much. The food seemed like cafeteria food but maybe it's what we ordered.

However Scifi is a hoot! The food is OK but we love the atmosphere.

We love Sci-Fi for lunch. 50s PT is fun, but you have to go with just the right sort of people to make the experience hilarious ;)

Just came back from our Disney trip... our worst dinner experience (out of 6) was 50's PrimeTime.... my family will now boycott this place and we had to file a claim with Disney for damages!!!!

I too am curious. We have an ADR there for the first time in October. My vote was going to be for 50s because we had done Sci-Fi and did NOT like it but now I just don't know......share please :hippie:

Our family has eaten at both. We thought that we would really like 50's Prime Time. It was OK and the food was fine but when we ate at Sci Fi we all agreed we liked it more and now eat at this restaurant every trip. A lot of people post that they don't like the food but we have never had a bad meal there. We all have our favorites, #1 son the burger, #2 son the ribs, husband varies, me the shrimp pasta. The cheese cake and apple crisp are the only two desserts we eat, but the thing that we really love about this restaurant is the theming. Eating in the old cars and watching the movie/commercial clips is great. We'll be eating here again in about 2 weeks!

Surprised by the results so far! I expect 50's Prime Time Cafe to win in a landslide. I never read positive reviews of the food at Sci-Fi, but I suppose the setting trumps mediocre fare.

I actually prefer Prime Time for both food and atmosphere. I enjoy playing with the servers and find the individual tables positively charming. Everybody should try Sci-Fi at least once for the experience, but my family disliked the overall setup. We like talking and laughing during meals, and we felt constricted sitting in multiple rows.

We would probably forgive that element for better food, but that seemingly will never happen there.

Trying to decide where to dine for our second day in DHS (our first day will be at the Brown Derby). Which do you like better 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi and why? Thanks for the help.

For our money, 50's Prime Time hands down. Sci-fi is "kinda fun", food is so-so. We find 50's really fun ( especially if you get a good server ) and the food is very good too.

I am surprised Sci Fi is winning because, frankly, the food is mediocre. That isn't to say its not a fun place to eat. Prime Time has better food though. Sci Fi feels like a counter service with tables to be honest. I enjoy the movies being played, but having seen them a bunch of times the focus really shifts to the food, which is pretty average in my opinion.

I voted for Sci-Fi and it is a "must-do" for our family. As many have said the food isn't the greatest food on the Disney property, but we love the atmosphere and the food isn't terrible in any way. We usually do lunch there, as it's the perfect place to get out of the sun and the heat during the middle of the day.

We had lunch at the Sci-Fi just yesterday. The burgers are good, but probably not worth the price. My wife had the reuben and liked it, but a friends had the chicken sandwich, which came out stone cold (supposed to be hot), the server took it back and brought another that was somewhat warm, but not fully cooked so our friend opted for the reuben that wasn't as good as my wife's. Another disapointment was that a place like that should have a hot dog on the menu and they don't (used to years ago).

We haven't eaten at the Primetime in some time, but I remember the food being better there. Sometimes the theme can be a bit annoying, though.

I actually prefer a hot dog at the Backlot Express.

Food is only 'OK' at both, but you know you will have a different experience at Sci-Fi. 50's is totally dependant on your server and if you get a dud...well the experience is muted.
