Went for diner at this location tonight. Reservation was for 5:55 pm and arrived at 5:40 pm. I was told to come back closer to my reservation time. I thought that was a bit on the discourteous side. Came back at 5:50 pm and was told to wait inside and not outside as they wanted to be able to seat me fast. Still a little overboard at that.

I myself started out with the Iceberg Lettuce Wedge. I was impressed with how it looked and it tasted very good. Cold Crisp and very fresh. To my surprise that was the high point of the meal. I followed that up with the Dad's Traditional Meatloaf. The carrots were still cold or had sat long enough to go below room temperature. The green beans were limp and tasteless. The meatloaf it self looked like something out of a swansons tv diner.

Other than the overall effect of having a "family" member serve you, I would not feel to comfortable recommending this to others. I do however plan on going back one more time just in case.

Ah, I hate to hear that you had a bad experience! It's one of our favorites! Hopefully it was just a fluke/bad night/one time thing and next time it will be better!

I am glad to hear you're giving it another chance! I LOVED the pot roast last time!

Very odd that they told you to come back closer to your ADR time. I mean, they tell you when you make them to arrive 15 minutes earlier. I haven't been there in a while but the last time I was dining solo and the server really got me involved with the people around me. It was a good time and the food was good. Sorry to hear that you didn't have such a good experience!

Some folks would feel that it is discourteous to have the guest wait that extra time, with no chance of getting seated earlier (something that the CM would be able to foresee far better than the guest).

Still a little overboard at that.
Disney very very deliberately fosters an overly-familiar interaction between cast and guests at that restaurant, and that starts even outside the front door, with the CMs who may be there inviting folks in, at times. Perhaps that type of immersive, themed experience is not for you.

We ate at the 50's Prime Time Cafe on our last trip (end of January). We had a mid-afternoon ressie time and arrived about 15 minutes early.

My first impression was Eek! The lobby/bar area was jammed.

So we squeezed in and stood around for about an hour before being called to our table. We were four fairly patient adults, but I felt bad for the families with small children. (Now I know why they have a bar in the waiting area.)

Anyway, once seated things went better. Our server was amusing. The food was okay. Nothing special though.

Perhaps we went on an off day, but from our experience, we will not be rushing back.

We went on our first family trip in 2009. We did a walk up and had to wait about 40 minutes. Once seated our server "Uncle German" (pronounced Herman) was awesome. I was laughing the whole time.
DH had the pot roast which he loved and I had the fried chicken. YUM!! I didn't even want to share. The crispy coating was wonderful.......<sigh>
DH even tried the PB&J milkshake because he loves to try anything weird on a menu and it wasn't bad.
It was my birthday and Uncle German has all the other diners in our section sign a birthday card for ma as my cousins, and when he handed it to me everyone sang and laughed and waved because they all felt invested. To us it was great food and a lot of fun.
