The menus are on a viewfinder??! Oh my kids are gonna love this place! :goodvibes Great pics Disgirl83!

Bloomingbeauti...so does the Peanunt Butter and Jelly shake reeeaallly have peanut butter and jelly in it? I'm not a big PB&J lover but ds3 sure is. I just don't know about it being in a milkshake though :scratchin

We LOVE it! :thumbsup2 The food is excellent, decor awesome, and theming/staff wonderful! We ate there twice on last trip. Hubby tried pot roast the 1st time, steak the 2nd and liked both. I had steak both times (substituted root veggies with mashed potatoes) and son had pot roast both times. The dessert menu is a viewmaster, which was cool! :goodvibes Son and hubby got shakes (PB&J) as their drinks, they gave a full glass plus the mixer (which filled the cups again). I loved the flavoring that could be put into sodas... the vanilla flavored coke (was different than you can buy) was so very yummy! We got an "Aunt" our first trip and "Mom" our second! Mom gave us homework :) and our Aunt put a bib on hubby when he ask for extra napkins! :rotfl: It is just the best time!

We loooveeee the Prime Time Cafe. It's a fun experience and the food, I think is good. It's definitley worth the reservation for the atmosphere and the service! Like people have mentioned before- finish your veggies so you can have dessert. I rememeber when I went when I was about 7 and I was told to clear my plate AND I had to ask "dad" or "mom" (our waiter) if I could be excused from the dinner table to use the restroom, please. :)

It is a fun place to eat and if you get a waitperson who goes along with the antics, it can make for an even more memorable meal.

The food has always been good, IMO. A family favorite. The Fried Chicken, Pot Roast, Meatloaf(and I never order meatloaf out, but like theirs) and Roasted Pepper are all good dishes. We had a turkey sandwich there that was good also. Oh, and save room for a PB&J milkshake. Sounds odd, but oh so tasty. ENJOY!

I think this place sounds like fun. I'm thinking of doing lunch here. I tried doing a search to find some reviews but couldn't find anything :confused3 Not sure if the search feature just isn't working ??? So, does anyone have an opinion of the food? Sounds like it's sort of old fashioned homestyle cooking which is ok with me and I think my dMom will love the choices as long as the food is good. So what do you think- is it yummy or is it mostly the fun atmosphere you like??? Thanks!

I was very excited to try this - but I got sick the day we had an ADR there. Luckily (or not!) we were able to make an ADR for another day. I got the fried herb cheese for an appetizer. This was just ok (the fruit was the best part). My fiance got the shrimp cocktail - he said it was pretty good. For dinner I got the fried chicken. I was excited about this as I do not eat beef and pork and it was slightly different than the usual fare. This was NOT good. Really greasy and no flavor. My fiance got the pot roast - he said it was below average. We were too full for dessert so we took back brownies. They were ok.

The atmosphere also wasn't that great. It was cute but I felt REALLY shoved in there. We were at a tiny 2 seater shoved in a corner. I also dirt on the windowsills - and that kinda grossed me out.

Maybe the other food is better, but I wasn't a fan and won't be going back.

Mmmm, I love 50PTC! I ate the boursin cheese for the appetizer, fried chicken, and smores for dessert! Loved every course!

My friend had (I don't remember which appetizer.. chicken soup, maybe?) Meatloaf and the brownie sundae. She didn't care for her meatloaf, and she really enjoys meatloaf, usually. So that turned her off to the restaurant.

She says the only memorable thing she had from there was Mickey's BeBop Drink. Ah well.

So we're not headed there this time. :(

But I loved it!

We were there earlier this month. We thought it was very good. I had the pot roast, DH had the meatloaf, DS had the fried chicken. I forgot what the DS4 had. Probably some kind of chicken. We all really enjoyed the food. Even my picky 12 YO was very happy with this. We also had the smores, dads sundae and the angel food cake for dessert...yummy....

We also had a very good server. Actually, one of the best on our trip. I forgot her name, but she was a "cousin".

I had the steak and was not impressed. I think I'd have appreciated the food more if I'd had pot roast or something. I thought my food was dry and I'd guess that the roast wouldn't be.

By far it was the most fun meal on our trip. I'd go back again even if I hated the food. It was that fun!

I also had the steak this past week there. OMG it was the toughest piece of meat, we couldn't eat it. As in, we left the entire piece of steak on the plate and ate the potatoes only. Totally disappointed with that meal and our waitress was NOT fun at all. Seemed to be bothered we were even there to begin with. Didn't fill drinks unless we asked for it.
I've been there several times and the last 2 times were a disappointment. I think we'll look elsewhere next trip.

I guess I'm in the minority, but we didn't feel it was worth the money or the time. Our waitress wasn't good at all. I tried to get her to play along, but no go. She acted like we were a problem for her by just being there. I thought the fried chicken was okay (mine is better) and it just didnt' do it for us. Most of the other waitstaff were really getting into it with their tables, but ours couldn't be bothered. We won't go back. MGM just lacks the restaurant choices the other parks have. May try Sci Fi again.

I ate there in March of this year, and liked it, but not loved it. The server we had was dull, it was like he was rude instead of fun like the other servers. I really liked the Peanut Butter and Jelly Shake, it was very even, a nice blend of flavors without being overly peanut buttery. I also had the fried cheese appetizer and I remember it being odd tasting, but not gross or anything. The pot roast was amazing! I also had the s'mores dessert and it was the highlight of my meal.
I made an ADR to give it another try on my trip in 2 weeks.

My family just ate here on Nov 12. We usually like going here but I have to say I won't go back again. The portions were VERY small. The chicken on my ceasar salad was SO dry I almost choked on it and the staff really seams like they hate being there. I have to say we have been there 3 times in the last year and we have yet to get any real Prime Time interaction with any of the wait staff.

My family LOVES 50's Prime Time! I've had the meatloaf and the pot roast. Both were yummy. But I think I go there more for the atmosphere than the food. It cracked me up seeing those silver tinsel christmas trees that were so popular in those days!

Wish we were going back this next trip, but DH wants to try Sci-Fi (our first time). Can't wait to return to 50's Prime Time on another trip though!

As far as the food goes..I thought it was ok at best. I had the fried chicken. It wasn't bad but I could have gotten better at KFC. The green beans are terrible and our server "mama" warned me that they were terrible. The mashed potatoes tasted like they were from a box and the other options were stuff like pot roast, meatloaf and pork chops. Not my idea of a good meal for the price. But we did have an awesome server and had a lot of fun. So it really depends on what you like. I think most of the restaurants at DW are very overpriced for the food that you get.

I'm very happy to read recent reviews that are good! 50sPT used to be our second all-time favorte WDW restaurant (second only to Kona Cafe), but the last couple of times I had eaten there, it really was not good (the food and service).

We're going back in 6 months and we have this on our ADR list because we'll have our 70-something year old aunt with us, and I know she'd get a kick out of it. I was worried about the food, but it seems that things are back to normal there again! 50sPT will stay on our list now! :thumbsup2

Anyone that has been there recently- is Uncle Charlie still there as a server? We had him last trip and he was a HOOT! We'll be eating there on a Sunday, FWIW. I'd love to be able to get him again and will ask at the podium if he's working that night.

I ate their for the first time back in September - good food and a lot of fun. I had the pot roast (EXCELLENT!). One of my friends had the meatloaf and liked it (when the server was asked "how's the meatloaf?" he replied, "it's meatloaf." We were cracking up. Can't remember what the other friend had.

Now my friends can be kinda smartmouthed, so I tried to give them a warning to make sure they ate their veggies, and wouldn't you know it: one friend decided to hide her green beans in her napkin. I told her our waiter would find out, and sure enough he spotted it! He came up to her and sat down saying, "I wasn't born yesterday, sister!" It was so funny! He brought her out a plate of more green beans and whipped cream w/sprinkles on top!

We're planning on taking my mom and nephew there when we go in 2008.

That is so sad! :sad2: I am sorry that you did not get the full effect. The wait staff is what makes it fun! We liked the food, but without the decor and staff we would not go back (we would not go there to simply eat in other words). We were blessed both times with wonderful servers that truly got into their character. That makes it fun! :goodvibes Maybe you could give it a try one more time :confused3 because "when its good... its really good"!
