I've never tried the 50's Cafe before because there was nothing on the menu I'd eat (picky eater alert!). But I was just looking through and saw on one website that the restaurant now has:
Spaghetti and "Meatballs" - Multigrain spaghetti and vegetarian meatballs with Dad's Marinara Sauce $15.99

I would eat that!

However, I checked another website and that meal is not listed. Both websites say this particular menu was updated September 2011.

Do you know which is correct?

Thanks,
Pickiest Eater Ever

It was there mid-September when we were there. We regularly eat whole wheat and multigrain pasta, and vegetarian meatball can taste like the real thing. But, I will have to say that it was awful.

Sorry OP, but that sounds awful. We also eat whole grain pasta, but some of the fake meat gives me the willies -- I'd much rather have something identifiable. Prime Time has some delicious food, but I don't think that meal is among it.

But it's the only vegetarian option at the restaurant. (Other than salad which I'm, in general, sick of.) I can always skip the veggie meatball and just eat the pasta. Is the pasta bad, too? How can anyone screw up spaghetti? lol.

This restaurant was one of my favorites on our recent trip, however we had no dietary restrictions to worry about. I can see that this would be a tough restaurant for a vegetarian...it was all old fashioned "meat & potatoes" type of food (which we loved). I honestly can't remember seeing this as an option on the menu. We went right for the Mom's special of pot roast, meatloaf, and chicken.

Yes the pasta is bad too. Taste, texture, everything. I personally would eat one more salad and look elsewhere for a more interesting vegetarian option.

The September 2011 menu posted on this site has this dish:

Uncle Dana's Artichoke and Risotta Agnolotti - Pearl pasta with roasted zucchini and crookneck squash with a spicy tomato broth - $16.99

I have not had it, but it sounds somewhat better.

Perhaps you could get them to do a vegetable plate for you with a salad, potatoes and green beans or greens. It says "Southern" greens, so make sure there's no meat in them.
