500 loop

Is the 500 loop a preferred pet loop now, and not just a pet overflow? I called the Fort today asking which preferred pet loops were the easiest to maneuver in with a dually and long 5th wheel. She suggested we request the 500 loop, because it had wider roads and longer sites.

500 has been a pet loop for about 2-3 years now. It is easier to maneuver than the 300. 700 is also a preferred pet loop.

We stayed in the 500 loop this past March and LOVED it. We didn't take our dog with us...maybe next year!

We stayed in the 300 loop this year and the 500 last year. Prefer the 500 loop.

We stayed in the 500 loop last time too, it was right down from the comfort station and bus stop and we didn't have any trouble backing into our site but it was tight.

We are here right now. The 500 loop is closed as of today and according to the sticky on future updates and renovations it will stay closed until sometime in September.

We're here too!!! We are in the 800 loop. Very roomy site.

500 loop is closed right now as of 8-10-08 for renovations. They were triming trees and clearing brush today, it looks like almost all sites are now black topped. Maybe the entire loop is going to be a premium loop who knows. Grills are all pulled out.

Loops 300, 500 800 are pet loops but I also so dogs in loop 1400.

Pet loops are going to change when premium sites/loops open. So it is a little confussing what will be the new pet loops from the best I can tell from the boards is when renovations are done 500 will remain pet loop, 800 well remain pet loop and loop 300 will eventually be a non pet loop after all renovations. I am sure they will have at least one more pet loop when done I guess we will have to wait and see since so much keeps changing.

No signs of a new swimming pool construction as of yet.

So depending on when your reservations are will most likely depend on the pet loops.

We just left today, I am on my air card. The workers are working very hard on the 500 Loop. They start early in the morning so if you want to sleep in or if you want it a little quieter you might want to re think about Loop 300. If you are in sites around 310 and higher you should be ok with the noise. As we were pulling out of the loops the tree trimming trucks were coming in.

We will be back next winter and next spring ressies have been made some time ago.

We are booked for the 500 loop for December (7 glorious nights!) and we are in a premium pet site. I don't know if the whole loop is going premium, but assume that is the case. Anxious to see how "premium" our site is!

We just left the Fort this morning, and the 500 loop, was well under construction, with trees being cut, and pads lengthened. They were putting the concrete forms in place to widen and deepen the pads. It appears that little of the crushed shells or as some say "sand" will remain...if any... Oh yeah... How the heck do you get that stuff out of your camper, tow vehicle, shoes, clothes, and everything else....
Since we were there for 14 days, I'll be working on a trip report shortly..

No secret to share, I wanted 7 nights in a standard loop but they were booked solid, as were the preferred loops. The CM told me I could have five nights in loop 500, a new premium loop, if I wanted. I took it and then called every couple of days until (several weeks later) I could add two more nights. I don't know if she knew what she was talking about when she said I'd get loop 500... maybe it's the only premium pet loop that'll be complete in early December? But then again, I have always requested loop 1800 in the past and always gotten 1800. Maybe it's just my incomparable charm ;-)

But that does raise a question I've wondered about... how do folks get the exact site they want. I've seen folks in 300 loop that have engraved signs with their number. I know these are snowbirds who spend months at FW, but I'd like the number THEY call to make ressies! LOL
