Although the message is gone from the site, this is still in effect. We were hoping to upgrade our July trip and need a few more points. Any ideas if this will relax or not? I know - we really don't have any idea, but was wondering if there were some news I missed.

Have you called MS to ask about OTU points? At 7 months, you can buy up to 24 points at $19 per point. Hope this helps!

No news. But, a few have posted they got MS to get permission for a few extra.

If you are not in need of a ton, I’d call and hope for some pixie dust.

So far, there has been no indication that the rule will be rescinded, although some members have reported being able to borrow a couple of points over 50% by calling MS.

If that doesn't work, have you considered buying one-time use points? Or do you need more than 24 points to upgrade your trip?

We need 39 points and we hit our 50% max borrowing. Yes, we will buy the 24 points but this only gets us part of the way. Any chance they will let us borrow 15 more points of our own? We can always subtract a day - but who wants to do that!

We have 10 nights at CC and want to waitlist Poly for this summer!!!!

Since you are willing to buy the 24 and then only need 15, it may be worth the shot to call them! Worst case they say no!! Then you call back and see if another CM can get the approval! If you try a few times and its no dice, then the tough decision has to be made in what to do.

The logical solution is to buy a Poly contract. Or is that just me? :rotfl2:

I found this 50% borrowing rule to be a bummer at the 7 month window and under. We found a 5 days window to go to Aulani while in California. I would have much rather borrowed all my SSR points for next year than dip into my RIV points, but I had to do it if I wanted to book the trip.

I think I am in the minority LOL
This whole 50% rule keeps me in check. I have excellent control in my daily life but when it comes to borrowing points, I just do what I need and want to do and then worry about it. Now, I'm figuring it all out and my accommodations (or lack of) play a key part.

Buy a smallish SAP contract with a different UY for your next DVC emergency. That way you can get OTU points for each membership. We have mainly Oct UY and also Sept UY which works surprisingly well. We've blown through all our 2022 points and used some OTU points from each membership this year. Consider it insurance! :poop:
