50 point add on - how and where?

Hello all,

We are thinking about adding on to our points and that raises some questions for us. Do we go through DVC and what resorts are still available for add-ons? or do we go through resales and wait for a same use year? I have other questions but that's a start.

You can go thru DVC directly. They are currently selling BCV and VB, plus some use years at VWL and a few at HH. BWV and OKW may be available by getting on a waitlist.

If you consider resale, you are not restricted to the same use year you already have. Just make sure to figure in all costs with the resale, as it may not save any $$ if closing costs are included in the price for a small purchase like 50 points.

Doc is correct. The closing costs on such a small resale package are pretty prohibitive. You're probably talking an additional $8/pt on a 50 point package. We bought two large resales but have done all of our add-ons via DVC .....

Can anyone speculate how long it would take on the waitlist for a 50 point add-on at OKW through Disney?

We were just on the DVC waitlist for OKW (Sept-use yr) for 10 months.When they(DVC) finally called we had just did a 200 pt VB add-on. So we passed on it 3 weeks ago.

P.S. We were also 3rd on the waiting list since January.

I was wondering about the waitlist myself-we'd like to do a 50 point add-on at OKW. See my post on "Interesting comment by DVC", where she encouraged me to go resale, because the waitlist was "As long as my arm". But thinking about the closing costs on a small add-on, I'm still kind of confused.

Well, since you do save money by getting a resale, you might want to go for 100 points. Then the closing cost per point drops in half!!

I guess it depends on how quickly you need the points!

Your wait time on the waitlist depends on your use year. The September use year at BWV's & even OKW is DOG slow... we were on the BWV September use year for a year!!! Other use years however seem to be more plentiful & your time on the wait list can be one day or one month... We just put ourselves on the WLV waitlist for September on Saturday, it came through yesterday, although we haven't come up with a # of points to buy yet.... So, the worst that can happen is you are on the waitlist forever I guess....

As others have said you can always get on a wait list to buy the pts from Disney but some wait lists are very long while others seem to be pretty short. I am currently on a waitlist for BWV for an Oct use year, I have been on the list for 4 months and there are still 63 people ahead of me!
