$50 off PhotoPass

I just called MS to get my code for my trip beginning on Sunday and the MS team member assured me that this was a purchase in advance only offer and that this was a recent change with regards to using this code.

I'm 48 hours out. I need to know for sure. To begin with, he told me afterwards and when I pressed him that I was going to hold him accountable and he supposedly looked it up and told me that I had to buy it in advance and that this was a recent change.

Does anybody know for sure?

Call back again. With all the new CM's, I'm never accepting the first answer I get on anything, from resort availability to things like the photopass. Call again and let us know.
 
I liked that you didn't have to pre-order. That way, if you don't find very many photo-pass photographers or the photos aren't that great, you don't have to buy the CD. You're stuck if you pre-order and pre-pay. I hope that the CM that said you now have to pre-prder (like everyone else, LOL) was wrong!

But you're not stuck even if you pre-order because you can get a full refund. More work to do that, for sure, but it's still refundable.

And it could be pre-order/pre-pay only now -- that's the way it's working for regular resort guests - their link offer states that it must be purchased before their trip from everything I've heard.

This is EXACTLY what I received via e-mail. As we say on these boards all the time, what's in WRITING takes precedence over what somebody might say or have said.

EVERYTHING in that e-mail tells me it's an after-the-fact purchase. I kinda like not ordering it unless I want it when I get home too even though we've always had to pre-pay in the past. Photopass photographers in the parks have been getting more and more scarce IMO.

I'm going to wait despite what I was told. If it doesn't work, so be it. I can certainly live without my Photopass photos. Lord knows I have, and take on my own, enough Disney photos to last a lifetime.
 
Bob - that's exactly the same e-mail we got & used in January. You'll be fine to do what it says. I think you just got bad CM information. I think it's confusing that everyone (CMs included) are still calling it a pre-purchase offer. That may be the case for cash guests (and according to Brad/stitchkingdom.com may be the future case for DVC too), but it's not currently working that way for DVC members.

Do I call MS and ask them to e-mail me the photopass code for $50 off the CD? If so, how far in advance must this be done? We leave in 12 days.

Do it now - or tomorrow since MS is closed for the day.
 
I have a specific question about the discount. I am a DVC member, but I'm renting points from another member for my next trip. Do you think I can call MS myself and have them e-mail me the code? It just seems so much easier than bothering my "landlord." TIA

I called just to get the code and they never asked me for my reservation number though, granted, he could have very well had it right in front of him and likely did.

Can't hurt. Call and try. All they can do is say no.

So you have to pre-order? I am already back from my trip. Got back Sunday. I didn't pre-order because we weren't sure we'd be doing the pics. I have a bounce-back coupon for only $10 off that expires in 12 hours.

If I can MS in the morning, will they be able to offer me the $50 off discount code?

There is no longer a member discount on the PhotoCD. That went away when the pre-visit offer was opened back up to everyone.
