50 minute layover in ATL?

Shoot on southwest you shouldn't have a problem. Just don't stop to gawk around. I buzz through that airport with a 45 minute layover anytime i head to Orlando. Now i usually fly Delta which makes up the majority of the Atlanta airport and I usually have to take the little monorail from one end of the airport to the other, but Southwest is isolated to a pretty small area in the airport, you shouldn't have a problem.

Remember you don't have to be there when they start boarding, you just have to be there before they close the doors.

Its just me, no checked baggage, and I can move just fine.
I wasn't going to bring it up, but there's a bunch of fear mongering going on here. I was flying Delta (obviously through Atlanta), and the first flight took off EXTREMELY late. The 90 minute layover I was supposed to have was cut down to ~10-15. And I was in the back of the first flight. And I had to change terminals. Once the original flight was off the runway, I turned on my phone and got on Delta's website (ATL's should work also) to get the updated gate assignment for the connecting flight.

We deplaned in Terminal A and I had to go to B. I got off the plane as quick as I could, went down to the "plane train" which was just pulling up, took it to terminal B, rushed up the stairs, got to the gate for the connecting flight, boarded the plane, and I wasn't even to my seat when they closed the boarding door. I think it took me 5 minutes from when I stepped off the first plane until I was stepping on the connecting. And this WAS a terminal change.

OP, I wouldn't worry about 50 minutes. If you miss your connection, the airline is responsible for getting you to your destination. If not that day, they'll put you in a hotel.

I posted a similar question about a month ago in the RCCL forum. We have a 45 minute layover on SW in Atlanta (we are coming in from FLL). I purchased EBCI and everyone there said it shouldn't be a problem. I bought the return tickets the day SW released and got EBCI that day. Hoping we get A's on the first flight so we can be in front of plane and get off quick. We plan on getting to next flight as soon as off the plane. Fingers crossed for no delays leaving FLL!

SW connections in ATL are easy.

Not sure why some posters are determined to create panic LOL!

Not trying to create panic but make sure the OP has the right info. When posters say different things, heck when web sites pull up opposite information, some clarity is needed.

Btw, I have done 45 minute connections thru Atlanta on Delta. And maybe it is because I fly in from such a small airport, but sprinting is definitely involved to make it from one gate to the next. Sprinting and the tram.

Keep in mind though that delays can hit any flight, and you are not responsible for them. Your first flight could be delayed but so could your connection. Your flight could be delayed when you have a 4 hour layover and you could still miss it. If you prepare yourself mentally for the possibilities of the delay you can handle the whole situation a lot better. The saying prepare for the worst but hope for the best :)
Just have don't let the idea of a delay be the worst thing that can happen :)

Sorry to those who think I'm creating panic or fear. Just sharing my experience with a short layover in Atlanta. That's great they now exclusively use 1 terminal. It wasn't that way several years back.
