Please tell me all you can about dinner at the 50´s Prime Time Café. I´d also love to see some pics if you have them :)

50's Primetime is themed from the 1950's...with the decor matching what you would have found in "mom's kitchen."
The servers are either your "cousin", "aunt", or "uncle" and they play right along with that role. We had "Aunt Claire" one time and she was fabulous, but then we had someone else at another time...and he wasn't really into the role.
They brought us the silverware and my kids had to set the table. Some servers correct your table manners, others bring you a bib when you spill, and you need to "clean your plate" or they will let everyone know that you didn't...It's all in good fun. Again...some servers are better than others. It's nothing too over the top.

As for the food...it's your standard meat and potatoes menu. I order the fried chicken every time. It's my favorite. I have heard that the pot roast is great, and I plan on trying it next time. The milkshakes are terrific!

We really like this place and it is a great option for table service at DHS...:goodvibes

oh goodness, this is one of my favorite places! if you get the right waiter/waitress, that is. i've had some lackluster ones, and that is a disappointment. but when you get a good one, oh man, so fun!

here's some pics across multiple trips:

great photos at 50s, marsh! - when we've gone, DH always get the pot roast and loves it - for me, shrimp cocktail and a milkshake

Here is a different view of 50's Prime time (I think we are the only ones
who didn't enjoy our visit there) We arrived 5 min. before our ADR time but
had to wait another 30 mn. to be seated (it was jam packed in there for lunch).
I tried to prepare myself for all of the pretending that was going to
take place while we were there but I was not in the mood for it.
The Cousin we got had a very strong accent (could hardly understand her-
she must have been from the old country).
There were only 3 in our party and we were seated along with another
group of Women in a large booth (two separate small tables) it felt very cramped and to close. We were told that they were also our Cousins-
I just couldn't get into this--I wanted to eat and get out of this place.
I didn't care for this group women--loud, very annoying.
I was just wishing we had the table across the isle by itself.
I really enjoyed the salmon but DH and DS didn't care for there meals
and all 3 of us could not finish our meal (we were full)
so we were put thur the wringer for not cleaning our plates. :faint: I just told the Cousin that I didn't even want dessert because I was to full--please bring our check. After trying to
explain that a few more times, she finally brought our check, we payed and got ouy of the Twilight Zone. We will never eat there again.
We can't be the only ones who had a bad experiance with this place.

We just ate there today (have been there many, many other times too). It is one of our favorites; I was initially attracted by the decor, since it's just like what I grew up with in the 60s, and I love the whole atmosphere too. Our server was Big Sister Amy, and we were at a table with another very close on either side. Our "cousins" on either side were getting into things too. If you didn't eat your vegetables, Big Sis made you either hide them or create a face out of them on your plate. Great fun!

So you are seated with others if you are a small group, or just really, really close to other people?

Hmmm, we have a ressie here since I wanted to try it. But Dh hates to eat with strangers...

Love it! We always get the fried chicken plate (white meat only) and the smores and plenty of cocktails from the bar. It is so much fun!

I was prepared to eat with strangers when we go to Biergarten. I didn't know we may have to do it at the 50s PT too. Any other restaurants where our group of 3 or 4 may have to eat with others?

You are not seated with others, but some of the tables are very, very close. We were in a spot where four tables were in very close proximity in a row. You could probably request to be seated somewhere where you're more by yourself, but it might mean a longer wait.

We've been to 50's 4 or 5 times and we have always had our own table. :confused3 There are tables where there is a bench along the wall with chairs across the table - Le Cellier has seats like that, too - so there might be another family seated pretty close to you on one side.

We had "Sue" for our server last December. She was fun. We all had "homework" to do while we waited for our food. We had to name all the Disney animated films with single word titles. Another table had to name a fruit or veggie for every letter of the alphabet. We have always enjoyed it. I agree that some servers are much more fun that others. We have had a couple that were very boring.

Yeah, Jiko has those too...it's like that, except you could potentially have people close by on both sides (we did and so did the people next to us, since we were in a row of four tables and we were in the middle).

I suppose you could just ignore your neighbors if you don't like to socialize, but that's harder to do at 50s Primetime because the servers will often pull everyone into the act. Big Sister Amy kept referring to all of us as cousins and drawing us into interacting with each other. Fortunately, everyone was getting into it and we ended up having a really nice conversation with the people to our right.

Wow, you all had an awesome experience there! I'm so jealous because we ate there this past February and our server was blah! Not interactive at all. However there was a great waitress next to us who was all into it. It looked like great fun...this other waitress was scolding an older man and then started cutting up his veggies and feeding it to him! It was so fun to watch and very different from our waitress. She seemed tired or something. We'll still go back though because the atmosphere was great and the food very good! I'm sure you'll love it, especially if you get an in-character waiter/waitress :goodvibes

awesome atmoshere.....above average food. You will have a blast if you get a good server......if you get a server who isn't "In character" then you will leave wondering what all the fuss was about.

Good luck and have fun. :cool1:

More pix-we had Cousin Patty last Sept. and she was great! My DD8 didn't eat all her fries so our cousin helped her-see pix below. Then she had to clear her plate and take it to the kitchen. DD thought it was a riot. :happytv:

Dad's electric lemonade-my one and only adult beverage (in all my trips-basically I'm too cheap to order adult bevs at WDW! :rotfl2: ) I thought it would be blue, but it was more green (Dad's Electric Lemonade - Dad whips up an electrifying blue drink with rum, vodka, blue curacao, sweet and sour mix and Sprite $9.50 ) Pretty tasty though!

The DH and I ate there for the first time on our last trip and LOVED it! It was a very busy place, and there were several people who didn't have ADR's and were turned away. My DH made sure to let me know that we have to go back there on our next trip. The food was really good. Especially the Herb Fried Cheese!! I made the mistake of calling it Herb instead of Erb, and our server made sure not to let me forget my mistake. It was all in fun though. To me, the coolest part was ordering dessert from the ViewMasters!!

The server really does make a BIG difference. We've had excellent ones who were totally into character and some who might as well have been at any other restaurant.

Some of our favorite experiences were:
-Hubby having "Mom" play Airplane with the spoon because he didn't eat his veggies.
-Me having to wear a "Tattletale" hat for telling on him when he put his elbows on the table
-Him having to sing "Yellow Submarine" to the table of Brits next to us for some infraction...can't remember what. They joining in singing with him...it was a total riot
-"Mom" grabbing one of the servers by the ear and dragging him away, telling him she was going to lock him in the basement!
