My family of 4 is traveling to Disney with my mom. Mom is staying in a separate room without the dining plan. My family has the dining plan, but my youngest is 10 and is a very picky eater who will not eat most meals. Can I use her dining credits to pay for my mother's meals even though she is not on our dining plan and just pay out of pocket for my 10 year old if she orders a meal? Thanks for your help!

Nope. Can't use credits for someone not on the plan according to the plan rules.

The previous poster is correct. That would be against the stated rules of the dining plan.

Yes you can. If you are all together you can order 5 meals and just pay for one. We have done it several times.

Of course! Especially this may work if your daughter is ordering a kids' meal - paying out of pocket we've always been allowed to get a kids' meal for our daughter. She was a picky eater and doesn't eat a lot at one sitting.

There's a difference between what's allow and what you might be able to get away with. Your waiter will know that there are four people on your dining plan, and they'll see five people at the table. Whether they realize you're scamming the system is anyone's guess.

Thanks for the information! We are not trying to "scam the system" at all, just wanted to make the best use of our credits within Disney's rules. I appreciate everyone's input :)

They only swipe one band per room. So it's not going to matter. We had 7 people at most meals. Only 4 of us were on the dining. They did one check at all the meals. When check came they charged 3 to the dinning and others paid theirs. Never once did they questin it. No one is trying to scam. We just wanted to all eat together.

That's not the same thing.

OP wants to pay for someone not in their room and not in their plan.

Not to stir the pot, but I just got an email with this link about the changes coming to the dining plan on May 31st. This seems to indicate that you can pay for meals for someone not on the dining plan with your credits. What are your interpretations? I have not seen this information on a Disney site, but Touringplans.com seems pretty reputable. http://blog.touringplans.com/2015/0...disney-dining-plan-beginning-may-31/#comments

I've seen it, but won't take anything seriously until Disney makes it official.

Nobody is linking a credible source. This started on Reddit.

If it does change, then it's not stirring the pot. The rules change and allow it.

My interpretation is that they will no longer enforce the child credit restriction at counter service restaurants. You might be able to redeem more meal credits than people, like if you want to order two entrees for yourself. But the restriction of feeding people not on the plan is not mentioned at all. I expect that will remain in place.

I was a bit skeptical myself, since it hasn't officially come from Disney, yet.
If it's supposed to happen by May 31st, I'll guess we'll know soon enough. Thanks again for the input!!

So what they do is their chld orders what the grandmother wants and the grandmother orders what the child wants. The waiter is not going to to care who eats what. When the check comes they put what the child ordered on the dining plan and pay for what the grandmother ordeed. Thry do let a adult order of the childs menu as we do it all the time. Pleaple in here make. All on the dining plan are adults since the youngest is 10.

Right. Like it was stated, being able to do it is different than if it's allowed or breaking the rules.

Well that will be nice if you can use the credits that way. We never have enough credits no matter what we do, so it really will not make a difference to us, but some people end up losing them, so this will make a better value for those folks on the fence.

According to the new changes coming today, you are allowed to buy a meal for her with your credits. No rule breaking there.

Wow! This is good news! So I can put my parents on the dxdp and we can all share thier credits? Excellent!

That is still just speculation. Nothing is official. So no, currently it is not allowed.
