5 Things To Know About WDW After Not Visiting Since '06

Hey All,

So I've been sick with an awful strain of the flu virus for the past week. I've been bed-ridden and, as inevitably happens when I get sick, I became very nostalgic for my childhood. I started watching television shows that I have not watched since Middle School, for example.

And out of nowhere this morning... I became nostalgic for Walt Disney World. I went on four trips to the Happiest Place On Earth from 2000-2006. The trips helped define my adolescence. I've visited cities across the world, but Walt Disney World will always hold a special place in my heart. I cannot help but feel melancholy whenever I think of waking up at The Polynesian Resort or seeing Fantasmic at the end of a long day in the parks or just riding the Monorail.

I had planned to take a trip back in 2010, but it never came to pass. And since then, although I think of WDW every so often, it was not as big a part of my life as it was in Middle School and High School. But then I got to thinking about WDW this morning and cannot stop now.

And the awful thing is I used to know EVERYTHING going on in WDW. What was being built or renovated. New restaurants. New attractions. New rumors. And now I'm completely in the dark. Haven't heard or read about anything in close to three years.

So to my fellow Disney lovers... What are 5 things to know about WDW having not visited since 2006 and not read much since 2010? What has been the most exciting news? What new restaurants and attractions have been built?

I can barely describe the feelings that are elicited within me when I think of WDW. It's like that in between moment as you wake up from sleep and you're not sure if you're awake or still dreaming. Not sure when I could go back, but I'd love to hear some news from everyone.

Thanks!

I'd say New Fantasyland has to be at the top of your list! In order to create the expansion, a couple of popular things closed, Mickey's Toontown Fair and Snow White's Scary Adventures included. The first phase of the construction opened at the beginning of December and includes Under The Sea, Be Our Guest (a new restaurant) and Gaston's Tavern!

Of course, there is so much more than what I've mentioned so the topic is definitely worth a google search!

Moving this to the Theme Parks Community Board.

I think there have been more than 5 changes or additions since 2006, but I'll try to keep it to 5.:thumbsup2

1. The Enlargement of Fantasy Land in the Magic Kingdom.
2. Toy Story Midway Mainia in DHS.
3. The Restaurant changes in Italy at Epcot (Adding Via Napoli & Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar, and a refurb of Tutto Italia)
4. Several Rides have been Updated; Test Track (EP) most recently, also Star Tours (DHS), Pirates of the Caribbean.
5. Two new Resorts; Art of Animatiom (Value/ Family Suites) & Bay Lake Towers (DVC).

There's Five plus. Hope others have more to add.:wave2:

Wow so cool! Been reading about the new Fantasyland and it's making me want to book a new trip immediately.
