Hotwire won't let me book for more than 4 people. We have 2 adults and our 3 kids. The three kids will sleep together anyway so we don't really need a bed for 5 people.

If we get a Disney Resort will this be a problem? Would love to get some thoughts or experience on this!

It will not allow you to book onsite for more than the max capacity for the selected room. Most sleep 4, some 5.

Occupancy is 4... you can not book for 5 (unless one of the children is 2 or less). Yes, this would be an issue when you get to Disney. If they find you have done this (and many ways they could), you could be asked to leave and/or book a room that fits all of you... at full rate.

Just don't do it.

Yes, it will be. Do not book a Disney hotel that won't accept 5, the worse will be to arrive and be refused your room, and they will. They take occupancy very seriously at Disney. There are some hotels that will take 5, the least expensive are Port Orleans Riverside, Caribbean Beach Resort, AllStar Music SUITE and Ft Wilderness Cabin.

OR look offsite. There are several hotels at Disney Springs that take 5.

Max occupancy for many of the rooms at Disney resorts is 4 plus an infant.
You'll have to look into resorts that offer accommodations for 5+ people. (Such as Art Of Animation suites or Port Orleans Riverside Alligator Bayou rooms).
There are non Disney hotels that generally do allow for a 5th person in a 4 person room if a cot is also requested at an extra fee.

Hotwire won't let you book more than 4 in the room because Disney doesn't allow more than 4 people to stay in that category of room. They're a lot stricter on occupancy than most hotels. With the advent of magic bands, they know who's on the reservation and who isn't, and they have a lot of ways to make your stay more difficult if you go over the limit. For instance, people who are not listed on the reservation won't be allowed to use the free transportation from the airport or get into the parks during extra magic hours. At some resorts, the pool would be off limits.

It's really not worth it. Book the right size room for your group.
