$5 or less for a teen "Take Mine" party

A long time ago when we had one of these in my youth group. Someone brought a can of shoestring chips or pringles. No one wanted that gift, but inside was hidden $$ (ie $5 bill). It was kind of fun to see what happened when everyone found out there was $$ inside. It was fun and I remember 15+ years later.

i got a pack with 6-7 starburst flavored lip glosses for $5.00 yesterday at wal-mart. they were hanging on the side of an end cap in the seasonal section (across from the pharmacy, where the Christmas gift ideas are).

I don't think it is legal to give lottery tickets to minors. I was really chewed out for buying two for DS and his friend and handing them to them in the parking lot???????:confused3

Food is always good, and the gift card wraped in a fun way is good too,

An set of 5 things from Dollar Tree. A chia pet or an etcha sketch. Not sure of the prices though perhaps if they are too much a key chain version etcha sketch.

How bout a fun game they seem to be easy to find on sale now Battleship, Twister, etc?

I have done something similar. Decorate and fill a mason jar with candy, but, in the middle of the candy put $$ or a gc to a fast food rest or discount movie ticket.

It is fun to see peoples faces when they realize there was more to the gift.

Our church youth club (4th through 8th grades) is doing this tonight. My DS 14 is a youth leader, and my DS10 is in 5th grade. I bought them each a $5 gift card to Dunkin Donuts, and wrapped them up in an inconspicuous tin with some Hershey kisses inside.

I've heard this game called many different things: Greed, Yankee Gift Swap, Dirty Santa...

They also play it that you can bring in something funny or used from home. Not many people bring in the "used" gift, because I don't think anyone wants to get stuck with something used, if other people are getting gift cards or something cool.

No Starbuck's in our city. A gift card is my fallback option, but I'd rather have something interesting....

Marsha

Last year my DS14 brought a pooping reindeer. It's one of those candy holders...anyway, we found it at 5 Below. Middle schoolers found it to be funny...

Just be sure that you make the gift unisex. My DS's would not be happy about receiving lip gloss, nail polish or fuzzy socks.

humpf sorry I'm not "interesting"

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. I hope you didn't take it that way. I just wants something that will get a laugh.

Some lottery tickets?

They are all minors AND it is a church thing, LOL.

Since there isn't a Starbucks, I would go with iTunes! Maybe you can find an interesting way to package it.

I have never seen Itunes cards for less than $10 and that was packaged in 3 $10 gcs/:confused3

Oh, now that is interesting. How did they find out it was in there? Maybe I could wrap a brick(and make it obvious that its a brick and then stick a $5 bill in one of the holes.

Hmm.....Chia pet is a neat idea. I'll have to see if anyone has them and if they are less than $5

Yes, it will be unisex, and they are mostly boys anyway.

I did pick up a multi function laser pen at Spencer's, but some of these ideas seem more fun. I kept the receipt, so depending on what I can find, it may go back.

And whoever said the flying, screaming monkey---I wish it wasn't think Saturday and I would order that. We have two at home, but they are obviously used, LOL

Torinsmom- I didn't take it as rude I was just kidding in my interesting comment! No worries!

Sounds like you got some good ideas! Have fun!

So, I saw this idea on another thread and DS loved it, so I will take the laser pointer back.

You take a 2 liter soda bottle(DS was glad to drink 2L of Dr Pepper ;-)), and remove the label. Where the label was, you cut a U-shaped slit in the bottle and put in small gifts. Then you glue the label back on, or put on a special label, so the person can't see how you got the stuff in the bottle. I am going to put in 16 oz bottle of Dr P, some movie size candies, M&Ms and Reeses and a big peppermint stick, all from the Dollar Tree. I'll wrap it so it can be seen it is a 2 L bottle, and hope that having the small soda in there will make it feel like just soda.

at our 4-h party the gift that got taken from the most people was 2 2-liters of soda a movie theater box of milk duds and a bag of cheeto brand puffed popcorn.. seemed like a lot for under $5.oo

That sounds really cute, I can't wait to try it!

I love this! Think I'll steal it for DS's swap :)

Just a tip---bagged and individual candies fit better in the bottle. I was able to get one of the movie size boxes in there, but the big candy cane and the small Dr. Pepper was not happening. The bags of skittles, m & m's, hershey's kisses and starburst fit fine.

The bottle was a big hit and everyone was stealing it!
