Anyone know if you can use your Target debit card to buy a Disney gift card and get the 5% off?

Just got back from Target, trying to get $1000 in Disney gift cards using the 5% Pharmacy Rewards and 5% Target debit card.
I just applied for the debit card last week and my permanent card isn't in yet (I only had my paper temporary info.)
The system will only allow a $299.99 purchase with a temporary card!
I did get the full 5% Pharmacy Rewards discount on the 1k gift cards plus my other items.
I did get 5% off the $300 it allowed me to put on my Target debit card. [By the way the Lead or asst mgr who was helping my cashier said that I couldn't get the 5% debit card discount on the Disney cards -- my receipt says otherwise]
So yes, 5% Target debit card works for Disney gift cards.
I will call corporate tomorrow to try to get them to give me the rest of the discount; would have returned everything and just re-purchased when my real card arrives, but I spent 2 hours shopping!
Yes I'll be surprised if they do it for the reason you stated. My complaint will be that I was not informed about the limit, and the computer refused to allow me to use my Target debit card as freely as I would use my regular debit card, which I was assured was the case when I applied. Since I lost over $40 of the discount I expected it's worth a shot.Chances are that they won't do it. The reason that i say that is because you get the 5% off for using the red card and since you technically only used your red card to purchase $300 in gift cards, you wouldn't be entitled to the extra 5% off on the other $700. DH has had people ask him to do an adjustment in the store and there's no way for them to do it.
Even when your real card arrives you will be limited on how much you can spend. It's kind of like building a history with them. Since it's not like a debit card, doesn't come out immediately and therefore they have no way of knowing whether the money is in the account or not, they do it in baby steps. Think of it as writing a check.
I do wish you luck though.
This is why I got the credit card. I haven't used it yet, but I hope there are no limits other than the total credit limit on the card. I plan to make my purchases and pay them off immediately.
