5 hour wait

It's funny the way we see things differently. I don't consider having to wait for 11+ hours for an error on Disney's part to be corrected to be pixie dust in any way. I consider that a fail on Disney's part, the OP shouldn't have had to wait 5 hours the first time and they shouldn't have had to call back to fix an error from the original call. Glad they finally got it resolved though.
I wasn't referring to the wait. It's incredibly atypical to get any kind of refund on tickets when changing them.

I was wondering if maybe the OP had originally booked a package, with a different ticket type that was never issued due to the cancellation, and they just got a flat dollar credit for the package when they cancelled. Now they are buying separate tickets using a portion of that credit. Could that be how it occurred? I agree that it doesn’t typically work that way with regular ticket purchases and exchanges, but I don’t know how cancellations on packages were handled.
