5 for 3?

I checked too since I had to go get some gas with my 10 cents off. They had 3 day park hoppers. Hundreds left on the display shelf. $169 adults, $152 childs. That all had to be activated on or before April 14th. These are all left from the winter/early spring promotion.

Thanks for checking!

My Smith's did too ~ late last month *after the 14th* I took one up to customer service and explained that they were no longer good. :hippie:

Figures, if they come out with the 5 for 3, I just bought our 6 day passes thru Costco yesterday with hotel...oh well, I'm happy with what we got, not going to pout if it does happen...couldn't wait any longer, especially since they had to send the docs soon.

Hope it comes out by Monday. I need to get my tickets then.:wizard:

Are they having this again this year? When we went in 2009 they had this and it was great to have the extra couple of days so we didn't have to rush around as much. I saw a travel agency sign today that was advertising the 5 for 3 so I know it is available on some level but we are not going through a pre-packaged deal and are just waiting it out a week or two longer to see if there is going to be a 5 for 3.....SO....IS THERE?

It's available in selective markets, so you just have to check the travel agents....5 for 3 is available in Canada from Sun Fun Vacations. Can also get 7 days and 8 days for just $4 more.

Thanks for posting this - I went to their website and can't see ticket prices -are they selling them if you don't buy a package with them? Do you know how much money it was for a 5 day pass (parkhopper)? Thanks! :goodvibes

Edited to add: The more I think about this, the more I am thinking these might have been the tickets that expire April 15th? Anyone know? Thanks!

True but not for unbundled vacations such as the one that we are planning for June. In 2009 we bought 5 for 3 hopper passes from the main ticket site :
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/tickets/
We also looked into buying the same passes from ARES Travel and from Hojo where we were staying but after factoring in everything the Disney site was the best deal/value at that time as Ares charged a $5 per pass to print your tickets at home and the Disney site didn't so we went with Disney of course....we have to be cheap on our holidays as we usually go for 3 weeks minimum and have Disney as 1/3 to 1/4 of our holidays. This year when we went to the Disney site there was no 5 for 3.....although you are right I see the travel agencies posting 5 for 3 signs all over the place through Co-op travel etc. etc. It is mildly disappointing that they aren't rolling out the 5 for 3 for all visitors and not just those that are bundling and staying on site. Two questions :

1. Did they have 5 for 3 in 2010? (From the main Disney Ticket Site?)
2. When do they typically release the 5 for 3 on the Disney.go.com site as it seems that in 2009 it was March/April range?
Anyways.....I am not getting this deal this year for sure but it gives me something to yak about:lmao:

1. Yes, they had the 5 for 3 last year from the main Disney website (disney.com). You could buy parkhoppers, but you could also stay on property 5 for 3. It was a great deal!

2. They typically release these in the March/April time frame, and that is why it is so surprising that there is nothing yet. They may have decided to delay any summer promotions in order to milk the spring promotions till the last drop possible.

Ok, interesting that they had it last year. So I guess the economy is doing better then I thought. To me the people who would need it more in 2011 vs 2010 would be the people driving and paying 20-30% more in gas getting there this year vs last year. At the same time Disneys share price has been very strong the last year and they have new attractions that they can afford to try to hold back deals.....still don't like it....Human nature is that you always want a deal no matter how significant and this year no deal for me:confused3 I can actually see the park making waaaaaaay more $ if they had the 5 for 3 for everyone. On the positive side maybe the lineups won't be as bad?

Maybe I'm crazy, but the reason I thought they waited was because Easter was so late this year. The last promotion ended before the Easter season, so I assumed that they were waiting for Easter to finish, and then they would release the new, pre-summer promotion. Of course I could be wrong, but I was hopeful that we would see it soon. I still have about a week before I have to buy tickets, so I will still hope.

There is still a special for room only reservations. There is not currently a ticket special. I've mentioned this as my thinking before and it sound reasonable. A few weeks ago they were filming with a couple ofthe floats from the new parade. It is my thinking that when they have commercials ready to air then we will see the next specials.

If they are doing the 5 for 3 that was for both tickets and hotel so the current room special needs to be booked by May 28th. Maybe they will not announce the next room special till after that?

Bit the bullet and bought the tickets. Sad to not get the 5 for 3, but am still happy to just be able to go.:goodvibes

How long can I hold out? We are going on June 1. When do I need to get my tickets?

Bad news for discounts, but doesn't mean they won't happen.

From the Disney Quarterly Report, Q1.

"Increased operating income at our domestic parks and resorts was driven by
higher guest spending and hotel occupancy, partially offset by increased costs.

Higher guest spending reflected increased average ticket prices and daily hotel
room rates."

Tidbits that I got from their Q1 earnings report :

Q1 profit fell 1.2% and missed earnings per share estimate also. Blaming the timing of the Easter holiday and the impact of the Japanese earthquake and also some disappointing movie releases such as Mars needs Moms which was a bomb of a movie....

CEO says that Disney is in substantially better shape than 2 years ago and certainly better shape than a year ago.

ESPN ad revenue up 34% in Q1.

Parks and resorts : Disney has gotten rid of a lot of the discounts...they have raised their prices and people are still arriving. (Many of us know this first hand:confused3).

March 4, 2011 Disney stock hit an all time high.

Based on the poor earnings report they should roll out the 5 for 3 to drum up business but also based on the poor earnings report it doesn't sound like this is part of the current strategy.....

Here is the problem with giving a discount to a hotel that is already selling lots of rooms.

You have a hotel at 75% occupancy selling rooms for $100.
You give 30% off, now room are selling for $70 but occupancy is %100.

.75(% sold) * 100(price) *100 (rooms) = 7,500
1.00(%sold) * 70(price) *100 (rooms) = 7,000

Picture doesn't get better when 5 for 3 is actully a price of 60. And a real world occupancy % is not 100.
