There is no formal on a 5-nights cruise, but there’s an optional dress up. On my upcoming Marvel cruise, Pirate night will be on night 2 and optional dress up on night 3. Marvel will be on night 4. You might want to look at past Navigators on the Disney Cruise Line blog if your own cruise is not a MDAS cruise.
The Magic does a couple of different sequences with their five night cruises, so the activities can vary. I would also recommend taking a look at past navigators on the DCL blog.
We have a 5 night MDAS next month but I don't see on the app where it says that there's an optional dress up night. Am I looking in the wrong place? Or do I just need to find navigators from similar itineraries?
To truly nail down these nights, we were told to call DCL three months out from our cruise (June 27). They did not have the exact nights on their calendar now...too early. By the way, the formal night, as Capt. Barbosa says, is only a guideline...make of it what you want.
Pirate night is often the night before a day at sea. That way they can do the fireworks pretty far away from any land port. On our recent five day Bermuda cruise, pirate night was on night four.
