This will be our first trip to Disney (to the USA in fact). We have narrowed it down to an offsite home with private pool and as far as I can see, Windsor Hills appears to check all the boxes. Living in the Netherlands and not used to temperatures above 30C it makes me wonder if there are homes that include airco?

Can anyone suggest a 5 bedroom home at Windsor Hills in which you've had a positive experience? Should we be looking for something with airco? Also, how longare we looking at from leaving the community to actually being in the Disney parks,so not just the ride there but the time included with parking and getting to the main entrance? I am wondering since we have one child who would need to nap in the afternoons but not sure if it's doable to go back and forth.

As you can tell I am new to all of this with many many questions. I will keep reading this forum as all the information I have read so far is invaluable.

I can't give you a specific recommendation, but I can tell you that all houses in the Orlando area have air conditioning, so you don't have to worry there. You'd be miserable without it, at least in the summer!

As for the ride, I'd say that it depends a little on the park and the time of day/year. We went in March and stayed at Windsor Hills. To Epcot, I'd say time to the front gate was maybe 30 minutes because it wasn't crowded, we went at rope drop, and therefore we parked near the entrance. To MK, you're looking at much longer since you have to park and take the boat or the monorail. Maybe 45 min to an hour to the gate. NOTE: It's roughly the same for onsite, except that you're at the mercy of the buses.

We went with two little ones (ages 1.5 and 2.5) and did go back in the afternoons for naps. Our biggest trouble was that the kids fell asleep in the car and transferring them to our condo was hard since it was on the 3rd floor.

Good luck and have great fun!

We are staying at a 5 BR home in Windsor Hills in December. It's a VRBO property. It's our first time staying there, so I can't vouch for them.

I can't recommend a particular rental, but I will tell you that when we stayed at Windsor Hills last March, we drove around the community to determine where we would like to stay on a future vacation. The odd number homes on Daulby Street have a wonderful "lake" view, with no backyard neighbours. Daulby is also quite close to the main pool area. If you google "windsor hills rental daulby", or something to that affect, a number of homes will show up for you to choose from.

Thank you for all your quick responses. I can tell I will use this board a lotwhile planning our trip.

How big is Windsor Hills in general...if we ended up with the furthest house from the community pool/playground,how long would we need to walk?

I really dont know alot about windsor hills but the house we love is in Indian Creek(very close to disney) we stayed there before and we booked again for this aug. it is a five bedroom house and it has its own pool. the owners were great to deal with and the house was very clean.

any questions you might have ill be more than happy to answer them....like I said we loved the house...

I forgot to add the price that we had included everything but pool heat(we didnt need it)most rental houses have the air conditioning and/or heat within the price(at least the ones we have stayed at before) hth

We had a four-bedroom home at WH and never went to community pool. Kids just loved walking out on the lanai and jumping in our own private pool. The playground was not at the pool and it was so hot last June that after we walked there, we left. We rented from Romancing the Mouse.

We stayed at a place called Mickey's Clubhouse. It is owned by a lady who lives in New Jersey and is very helpful and prompt with replies. She also owns 2 other properties. There is a great website http://www.mickeyscondo.com/clubhouse/

that has tons of photos of the house.

Windsor Hills is an easy drive to AK. There is a backway, Sherbert Road, or something. If you use google maps and the satellite view you can really get an idea of the location to the parks.

This house is really decorated Disney. If you want that feel then it would be great, if you want to get away from the mouse than it might not work for you.

Have fun planning! We have stayed at WH 2x and enjoyed both times.

Here's a map that will show you the size of WH and where it is in respect to Disney. WH is #1 on the map. All of the Disney markers are pink. Shortcut using Sherberth Rd is the red line. This is quickest for Animal Kingdom.

The clubhouse/community pool would be a 15 min walk from the furthest pool home. The big castle playground is in the pool home section so perhaps 10 minutes. There are a couple of smaller playgrounds in the pool home section also. It took us 45 minutes to get to MK rope drop (right inside the park). It will take about 7 min to Animal Kingdom parking lot and another 5 or so to get in through the entrance. Hollywood Studios is about 10 min. using World Drive and another 10 from the parking lot.
We left Mk a couple of times for naps and it took us about 35 min. to get back to WH. Less waiting when you're headed out.
You might want to look at the 6 bedroom homes at WH also. There are many more of those than the 5 br and you can probably get one for about the same price. We stayed in this one and it was very nice. http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p250801
All have air con. and if you go from Oct - Apr. you'll want your pool heated.

I would say a good 15 minute walk from the furthest house, but there are homes within a couple minutes of both the park and the community pool. You will find that the pricing for both 5 and 6 bedroom homes is basically identical, so I wouldn't limit your search to just 5 bedrooms. There are many more 6 bedroom options.

We are just back from this house:

We loved the house! It backs on a private treed area which was so beautiful. It is a 5 minute walk to the clubhouse (you will love Windsor Hills). I priced so many houses and this price was one of the more reasonable. The management company is just down the road and so helpful. I honestly can't say enough good about our experience with this house and the owner.

Yes, unfortunately they do not like you advertising specific homes on here. Windsor Hills is a great community and you are literally only 2 miles to the Disney World Parks Entrance. All homes should have AC and you will have a wonderful vacation!
