5 at SSR

I have read about SSR being refurbished. If we want a room that sleeps 5, but not a 2BR, what should we book?

2BR’s, grand villas, and treehouses are the only options at SSR that sleep more than 4. To some of the more seasoned DVC experts, would someone traveling as a party of 5 be able to book, say, a 1BR and bring their own bedding for a 5th? When my brother and I got too big to share a bed, we often brought an air mattress when we’d stay in a studio, but we were only 4.

We just stayed in a preferred SSR 1BR in March, and it definitely sleeps 5 - 2 in the bedroom, 2 on the murphy bed, 1 on the fold down bed from the console under the TV. Bedding & linens were indeed provided.

Once ALL units are done, they will/should change the web site to indicate 5 in a 1 BR. If you are a member you can book with 5 now, if you get a refurbed unit you will have beds for 5, if not you will need to provide your own 5th bed.

The new rooms (1 bedrooms) can sleep 5 as it has the extra pull down bed in the TV cabinet.

The SSR refurb should be completed sometime this summer. Last report said all buildings except those in the Carousel section are done. (FYI, most Members here do not request that section because it is quite far away from the Lobby & food and feature pools).

As already posted, the 1 bedrooms will sleep 5. They will have a king in the bedroom, a queen Murphy in the living room and a fold down bunk size bed under the TV.

Cash bookings are still hard limit 4 in 1BRs until refurb is complete though.

FYI you are correct in thinking one could book 5 and bring the bedding for the 5th in most DVC 1BR's. It just so happens that the SSR refurb is adding a 5th sleeping surface to that size unit. For the few that aren't yet finished though, and for all other DVC 1BR's except for CCV and AKV-Jambo, you can book 5 and if there isn't a 5th bed then bring your own bedding for #5.

There’s no other pull down bed?!?! On line shows pictures of one under the tv. I’m counting on that so my kids don’t share a bed

@shinysparklybubbles, the SSR studios do not sleep 5, but the 1 bedrooms at SSR do sleep 5. This is from the Disney website:

"1 king-size bed, 1 queen-size pull-down, 1 twin-size pull-down
Exclusive to Members Booking with Points: 5th Guest can be accommodated, but no additional bedding, linens or towels will be provided
Sleeps Up to 5"

I'm not sure why it still says additional bedding, linens & towels are not provided for cash guests. AFAIK, that's no longer true for SSR, and that phrase should have been removed after the refurb was complete. But DVC Members booking for points do not need to worry. Your only problem may be getting kids to agree on who gets the twin pull down.

From what I recall, some 1 BRs have the pull down under the TV but there was a warning somewhere or the other that they said these could be removed. I'm guessing they ran out of inventory during the refurb and perhaps are just going back and pulling in the rooms that did have them installed so that everything is "equal".

Your only problem may be getting kids to agree on who gets the twin pull down.

thankfully that will be easy, I have an over 6 foot 14 yr old and a tiny 9 year old so their size has already determined who’s ending up where!

Most One Bedroom villas at SSR have a pull down twin under the TV in the living room. If that's not the case with your room, I'd love to see a photo. I've seen a couple references to some 1BRs not having the twin, but nothing very specific.

There’s definitely plenty of space for a pull-down twin, but one does not exist in 8114 Standard View 1BR, in the Grandstands. This is *not* am HA room either. It’s a good thing we didn’t need that 3rd bed.
