5 Adults Hotel + Tickets for under $2000 ??

Also, we never rent a car. We get a van cab from the airport for about $45 each way and only eat where we can walk to. It saves us the cost of a car and the parking fee at the hotel.

I second way.com for tickets, with DCA being so cool now hopping isn't necessary *for us* maybe get non hoppers and visit the parks for three days.
Avoid resort fee hotels, parking fees too, if possible; two 2 queen beds rooms may be cheaper than a suite, we stayed at Stovall's via lmtclub.com / lastminutetravel.com early last month. Motel 6 on Disney Way was fine back in 2010. Anaheim Plaza Hotel can be budget friendly.
Free breakfast might not be worth it, you'll have a vehicle, a grocery store stop would be easy.
Good luck! October is tricky with crowds, GDs; AZ, and UT schools fall breaks, Columbus Day; I think late Oct would be best - 10/22-10/29
Staying within walking distance to the parks is so worth it! That's hard to do when booking with GetAwayToday.

Yay on your dad's great news! That is wonderful. It seems like most ideas have been covered, but I just had a couple more. Have you already purchased your tickets? If not, you can go through orbitz.com activities and buy them on there. If you do that and you have a discover, you can go through there site and get 5% cash back. If you don't have a discover you can go through Big Crumbs and get 4.2% cash back. So with a purchase that large, it will be like 42-$50. Also, I think it was 20% back through ebates for a little while in Feb., so you can wait until it's closer to go and potentially get that.

Another idea I had is I think when I called Howard Johnson's they wanted to talk to me about a timeshare, or something, where we could "stay for free" if I went to an hour long meeting or something like that. I would totally check into that if I were you. Just call HoJo and ask if there is anything like that that they know of. Only one person in your party would have to do it, or maybe you could get two rooms and have two people go.

Finally, small point, but buy water before you get to the park, or get free cups of water from the restaurants. It's $3.00-$4.00 otherwise.

They let you bring in water bottles?

u know the hotel makes the difference in your stay!!!

u want a good nights sleep? or a toilet that overflows? lol hahahha.

happened to me.

we stayed at the motel 6 maingate and it sucked so bad!

our tv blew up.

no bathroom door lol....(not quite family style)

another time we stayed in one of the originals, also walking distance......hmm I forget the name, close to anabellas... and the toilet blew up!!! water all over the floor and I had to plug in the fridge too to another socket cause it was loose and unplugged..... and it made noise all night long.

the motel 6 staff were way rude too.

long story short.

stay at the Travelodge.

its 60 a night most times for 2 queens, and nothing breaks.

u gotta walk a few more blocks though :-) but plenty of breakfast places on the way like ronalds and ihop :-) so its worth it, save a little more.

we eat a 12 dollar breakfast (total) at ronalds and we are good to go!!

:-)

ok that's my .02 cents.

walk and u save on Disney parking! save that $20 per day.

I bring a stroller too, and I throw 5 bottles of ice block water in the bottom. they never make me take them out. never.

bottles of water are $3 each @ Disney.

I did Stay at Travelodge waaaay back when my kids were 7 and 4 on their first trip to Disney. I dont remember any problems with it. There was no breakfast and the pool was a little small but they were more interested in Disney anyway.

I actually did think about just getting 2 rooms but it comes out the same- more actually , as getting a suite.

They let you bring in water bottles?
Yes! :) You can bring in a soft-sided cooler, too!

Or, you can just ask for water at any counter service restaurant and they will give it to you free of charge.

You might want to investigate doing a nearby condo or house on VRBO.
That way you have a full kitchen and some bedrooms.

I found this low price/budget 2 bedroom option that says it is about an 8 minute drive to the parks: http://www.vrbo.com/495480#

It's not as fancy as some others but it gets good reviews, and it has a community pool that you share with 2 other units.

Ditto on Desert Inn & Suites. They even show the room layouts on their website. Super close and rooms will comfortably sleep your group.

Still looking lol! There's just so many good ideas here, I'm looking into all of them and comparing. Good new is that I'm finding that I CAN do the tickets, hotel and rental car for under $2000 which was my goal.

Now I'm just trying to see HOW MUCH under $2000 I can get it haha :)

So far the GetAwayToday has given e the lowest deal on tickets and hotel, and price line the lowest on car rental. I didn't even know about GetAwayToday until some people on here suggested it and the prices were SO low that I was skeptic about their follow through so I did some research on trip adviser and other reviews to see if people were running into any issues but they have great reviews so THANKS to the people that steered me there.

@ Cinderpamela I did check out the apartment but its booked for the days I want. Thanks though :)
