Dh and I have a 5:50 seating at California Grill on 10/27- a little early but all I could get for that night. I know Wishes is at 9 that night. Is there a chance we'll be there long enough to see the fireworks? I figure we won't actually be seated for 20-30 minutes- at least that's what I've experienced in the past.I wouldn't hang out long after we're finished -I wouldn't want to keep someone else from being seated - but I'm sure we'll have apps, wine, meals, dessert/coffee (the works.) Anyone? If you've dined here around that time- and had a full dinner for 2- about how long were you there??? Thanks!

It all depends on how many courses and how quickly you eat, I think. We spent almost 3.5hrs at CG this past April. We had the cheese course, appetizers, entree and dessert. We really took our time and our server (Benjamin, he was great! :thumbsup2 ) noted when we got up to go look outside (there was no Wishes that night (Grad Night) so we weren't purposefully lingering for the show). I'd say it would be easy to have a nice leisurely dinner and go out to view Wishes before/after dessert.

Great! That's just what I'm hoping for- a nice leisurely dinner to top off our nice leisurely "mommy & daddy only vacation". We will have to force ourselves to eat more slowly (we have 3 little ones and we usually wolf our meals down) but I'm sure we can do that.:thumbsup2 Thanks!

You can go outside at CG to view wishes no matter what time your meal begins or ends. (as long as you have an ADR for dinner that evening)

You could eat your meal as slow or fast as you wish, then perhaps just have a drink or coffee or whatever while waiting for wishes. Don't feel like you must still be eating and seated at your table until Wishes starts. We like to dine early at CG, watch the sun go down and the lights come up in the kingdom, then when we are finished, go outside with drinks to view the fireworks. It's a much better view from the catwalks outside the restaurant.

DH and I will be there the same night and the same time as you. When I booked the time they told me we are allowed back up to watch the fireworks. So if I was you do not worry about.

Great! Thanks, everyone, for the info.

SHAYMARAYSMOM, are you celebrating an anniversary as well? That's why my dh and I are going w/out the kids this time. I'm so excited!

Well, it should be a wonderful night! Have fun!

Oh my goodness--this is exactly my question! Little different circumstances--I had booked the 5:50 time when Wishes was scheduled for 8, but Disney changed the schedule and now it's at 9.

Eat s-l-o-o-o-o-o-o-w... ;)

We've done the same, enjoying cocktails at our table before dinner, then apps, entree, cheese course and dessert, the whole she-bang, before watching the fireworks. I do have to say, though, that we ended up giving our server a much larger tip than our typical 20%. We figured that it was only fair, seeing that we took up his table for almost three hours.

Yes- when I mentioned my concern to dh I asked "do ya think we'll be able to eat this slowly." His reply was "If not, we'll just have to drink enough to fill up the time" :rotfl: Thank goodness for Disney transportation :thumbsup2 And yeah- I'm sure we'll be leaving a nice tip too...dh was a waiter all through college and under tipping is one of his pet peeves.
