5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

My older son, Eric (13), has a very mild Autism Spectrum Disorder called Aspbergers Syndrome, as well as ADHD. He is considered, for the most part, "neurotypical" (psychiatrist's fancy word for normal), but is painfully shy at first and has difficulty in social situations. I'm concerned he will not enjoy himself in the teen area but my travel agent has assured me that he will be able to go to the Oceaneer's Lab if he wants to. I think it would be helpful if he had a friend before we even get on board and I was wondering if anyone who reads this and is going on this cruise has a son around Eric's age whom he could communicate with prior to our sailing. (114 days!!!) Or if anyone has any advice for me.

My son Lathon (13 in March) would be interested in finding a friend or two before the cruise. I will send you a PM with our email. We are still looking for a DD10ish to communicate with our DD10 before cruise as well.

We don't have any plans or excursions for this trip...I really don't mind for Nassau, been there several times, but with a 7 year old is there something we should be doing on CC, especially with 2 stops ? Our last time there he turned 5 the day of CC and we had a very short stay due to a hurricane approaching. I know he will want to spend some time at the CC club on the island, the little time he was there last time he loved it. Are there paddle boats? Something the three of us could fit on? Is there a more inland walking path, something to see the nature of the island, but not on a pay for structured type walk? Maybe while DS enjoys the club DH and I could stroll to Serenity Bay and back?

Last time at CC with younger kids we took a bike ride. The bike trail now goes off from the runway into the inside of the island. It is a nice path and you go to a viewing tower you can go up and view the island. Really easy trip for young ones and the bikes are only $6 each. We loved it. They have bikes with training wheels if needed.

Unfortunately, due to some extended family situations, our entire travelling party of 13 had to cancel this sailing. If anyone is looking, we had 4 category 8 rooms next to each other (2 sets of connecting) on the 6th floor- forward.

10 of us have rebooked for the Dream June 7, 2011 so it looks like we will still be cruising with some of you.

We had to book a balcony stateroom because that was all that remained for the sailing. Wasn't planning to spend quite so much money, but I'm sure we'll enjoy sitting outside with our morning coffee.

Enjoy the cruise- I'll keep lurking the thread so I can see how the 5 night cruises go!!

Today is the 100 day mark for us...we arrive on the 28th to spend 2 nights at Kidani Village at the AKL. A day at EPCOT on Saturday and then on to the Wonder on Sunday. I was in the shower this morning thinking about a presentation I have to give later on today when my DW came in to tell me the good news. I'm sick of this snow and the thought of this cruise perks me right up...didn't even need my coffee this morning.

I think I saw that your DD was to be 14ish on this cruise. Did she go to the teen club and if so what did she think of it?

She did go to the teen club some. She liked it as long as she was there with someone she knew, even though she is definitely not shy and is generally outgoing. She said they had fun games and activities in there, BUT they had kids in there that would "act like idiots". It REALLY helped that she met a girl here on the Dis boards and corresponded with her before the cruise, they spent ALOT of time together, seeing shows, movies, walking around deck together. Everyone in our families really hit it off, we even linked dining reservations and dined at the same table. It was really a good experience in freedom for her, poor thing may positively suffocate back here at home!

Just wanted to ask if there are any adults cruising that would be interested in linking reservations so we can dine together. (Chris & I are kinda worried who were are going to be seated with since it is only the 2 of us!!)

DH and I did this with 6 others on our last cruise and it was awesome! We had a great big DIS table & it was fun!! It was nice to know who we would be sitting with at dinner & nice to have gotten to know our tablemates beforehand.

I just thought I would throw this out there and see if anyone would be interested.

From a past cruiser who opted to link my dining, you will not reget dining with this couple. They are some of the best people I have ever had the honor to know. I am only sorry I am not cruising with you all on this cruise so I can again enjoy the pleasure of their company.

I've got LIVE365 "Parkhopper Radio" playing on my outside speakers right now while I'm clearing a little snow from the rest of my driveway. My mind is in WDW but my back keeps reminding me that I'm in PA. I'm so ready for this cruise NOW!
