5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

What excursions do you plan to do at Nassau and CC and what are you most looking forward to about this cruise?

I think we are going to stay onboard for Nassau. We've gotten off the boat twice, and while it was fun, it realy hasn't been "worth" the money. I'll see what my girls want to do though. The two choices I am giving them, other than staying onboard, are the Dolphin Encounter (they loved it the first time) and a day pass at the Wyndham.

At CC, my girls just like to play in the sand and swim/snorkle, so I mostly hang with them. I would like to hook up with another family, since I am a single mom, so my youngest (who doesn't like to snorkle) can hang out and play while I snorkle with my oldest for an hour. And vice versa so I can hang with the little one and my oldest can go off for some fun with other kids. I would like to do the stingray excursion, but I know my girls would be freaked out, barb or no barb.

I would *love* to get over to SB for a peek, but I know my girls wouldn't want to go to the clubs and leave the beach.

Here are 7 new questions. Everyone should feel free to participate!!

1. What is your favorite DCL memory? If you’ve never been what are you most looking forward to about the cruise?

2. What is your favorite adult beverage (or food item) on-board or at CC?

3. What excursions do you want to do at CC?

4. Do you plan to book a brunch or dinner at Palo?

5. What is your favorite activity on-board?

6. Do you plan to participate in FE?

7. Ask a question for the next poster to answer.

1. My favorite memory of this last cruise is when the kids wanted to take a picture right before they stepped onboard with sad faces, and then another after they had crossed over with super happy faces. Love it!

2. I really like Bahama Mamas, but they are so full of calories. I love, love me some wine with dinner though.

3. Stingrays at CC, but they kids won't want to, so we will just hang out all day.

4. Yes! I told the kids that I wanted to do one thing my myself this cruise, and they had to go to the club then. Palo is that one thing I want to do!

5. I think I really just enjoy BEING onboard. Sometimes it is so surreal to be doing something mundane, like getting ready for dinner, and then you step into the lobby and realize where you are and see the ocean outside your window.

6. YES!

7. Is anyone else having a hard time finding a room that Saturday night before in Cocoa Beach due to the holiday?

I plan to rebook onboard, but I don't know what I will do with the date. I will just have to wait and see.

We are in a GTY Cat. 6. I had a cabin booked for the June 8th sailing, but we decided to switch to a DD cruise and this one was cheaper than the June one, but no open CAt. 6 cabins. So... I'm crossing my fingers for a Cat. 1. :rotfl2:

Hello All!
I need to go back and read the last page or so, but I wanted to share this link with you! Another fellow cruiser from my last cruise emailed me this link! Lots of exciting things to happen on Castaway Cay. I hope a few of them are in place in May, but we'll see! Be sure to check out the photos too.... www.orlandosentinel.com/attractions

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/trav...ey-castaway-travel083009aug30,0,6854765.story

That's great news! I'm so glad they are expanding the family beach for the new ships as well as adding a new restaurant and shopping area. Plus it sounds like even kids at heart can play on the new Pelican Plunge!! The current play area is for kids only. I just hope that they add a slide for all ages on the new ship itself.

Unfortunately, this reminds me that we were at CC one year ago TODAY!! :( Oh how I wish I could walk over to Cookie's right now!

Don't know why, but I'm in a DCL mood today.

Hi Everyone! That book cracked me up.

I will play.

1. We were picked to be a Magical Family twice on Disney, proving that you can be Magical without any children, despite what my mother says. ;)

2. My favorite drink tends to be whatever the bartender feels like making me. Try it sometime. After I know a bartender for a day or two, I set some rules: no coconut, no peach, no Sambuka (sp?). Other than that, they can use me as a human experiment. Each bartender has his or her own specialty, and I've tried a lot of cool, innovative drinks that way. By day 4, they typically don't even ask what I want anymore. They start making me a surprise when I arrive and it's ready by the time I take a seat.

3. The only "excursion" I do at CC is putting my fat butt on a floaty mat in between Bloody Marys. :)

4. Probably just dinner. On shorter cruises, I agree with Christopher when he said that Palo brunch eats too much into the sea day. On longer cruises, brunch is a must.

5. Favorite activity on board: sitting around the pool.

6. Probably not. I'm a horrible packer; I can't imagine adding FE gifts to our girth of luggage.

7. Do you get sea sicK?

P.S. Radisson is still showing availability, and we will likely just stay there. It's good enough for us.

Guys, I couldn't resist the kids sail free and changed our sailing to Feb 14, 4 night. We saved $1700.00! Our friends saved $1000! Hope you guys have a great time, I'll be thinking about you and I know I'll be wishing to be back on the boat. Thanks everyone for all your advice!

By the way we are booked at CIS, I will be cancelling that in the next few days so 2 rooms there will be opening up!

ldalvarado,
I would be happy volunteer our family for your little one while you go snorkeling with your big one. Our girls are 7 and 4 at the time of sailing. I am sure we will be doing nothing but digging on the sand. :goodvibes It will be my husband and I plus my mom, step dad and step sister. Plenty of eyes. No crazies. ;)

I wondered about switching to the kids sail free, but that time of year is just terrible for us (well, me) to try to travel. Gosh that would save a ton of money though.

Husband answered our 7 questions for me. I'm sure we are like minded!

Hope everyone is having a super day,
Cari

Oh why did you have to post this!!!:goodvibes

We checked into this new offer last night and found out we can save over $2,000 on our cruise. Yes, it is a day shorter, but $2,000 to sacrifice one day was worth it for us.

We have officially changed our cruise to March 21st. The good news is that my DBIL, DSIL and two nieces will be joining us. This will be the first cruise for our nieces and they are very excited.

Sorry to bail on everyone on this thread. This looks like it's going to be a fun cruise filled with DISers. I looked and there's not even a thread started for the March 21st cruise. I guess I'll have to start one now!

Someone will have to take over maintaining the list of DISers on the cruise. Just PM me and I can change the title of the thread to point someone to the page and post number where the list will be maintained.

I hope everyone has a great time on this double dip. I will miss having two visits to CC, but I'm also looking forward to vacationing during our kid's spring break which is something I've never done before.

Perhaps I'll get to meet some of you on one of the new ships in 2011 or 2012!

Sorry about that, KS Disney Dad! I just couldn't help myself! The week of Feb 14 is our Winter Break, our school system gives the children a whole week off, instead of just President's Day (of course we have to start school the first of August, too!). Hope you have a great time on your new cruise, my new meet thread only has 1 other person so far! I've been spoiled on this one with so many people to talk to!

Oh, I forgot to mention that I did cancel our CIS rooms about an hour ago so they have 2 rooms available now!

No problem, you saved us a lot of money! This is our first Spring Break vacation as a family and we're really looking forward to it.

BTW -- I think I recall someone mentioning that they booked the last connecting rooms on the May 30th cruise. After today, our connecting Cat 8's are now available.

Yup, we had connecting 10s ! At this rate, Disney might have to run a promotion to fill this one back up!

Cari, you are so sweet! I can't wait to meet you, and everyone else, on Day 1!

I'm sorry that some are moving their cruise, but I totally understand. Since my kids are older, taking them out of school is not an option and spring break is already booked with a trip to Hawaii with my parents.

It's really no problem at all. :thumbsup2

We just sent a request to Dreams Unlimited to request the connecting cat 8s that KSDisneyDad let go! Hopefully they will be ours. We had connecting cat 10s.:wizard:

So, who is taking over this thread? Is it a lot of work?

Hmm... not sure anyone is in charge. I guess we will just have to keep it alive for the next *how many?* days! :dance3:

I am not cruising with you all but wanted to answer the question about time to be in "charge" No one really needs to be in charged but it will be of benefit in future planning if someone takes over keeping the list of cruiser updated and current. This really does not take a lot of time. It is easiest if you can read and up date the list daily. This list will be used many times over in the future if you do meets and or a FE exchange.

Just my 2 cents from a DISER not on this cruise. Lois

Did you get those Cat 8's? They are great rooms. We had the exact same rooms on our 15-night Panama Canal cruise and loved the location. If you need the room numbers, just let me know.

It's not hard to maintain the roster. Just check for new posts every few days and update your post that has the roster. To start it just copy the roster from the First Post on page one of this thread.

I just need to point the thread to where the roster will be maintained. Someone can start it right here if they want and I will add a link to the first post so that a new person can find it easily. At that point, you'll just have to edit the post to add/subtract names. I'd suggest having someone else keep track of the FE list separately.

Just let me know. I'll check back here periodically or send me a PM to set it up.

Oh gosh. Now I've looked at the Kids Sail Free offer. The facts:

Spring Break is April 2-11
Band trip is April 5-9

Our May 30th cruise, 5 nights, 2 rooms, one inside, one verandah total cost $4964

April 8, 3 nights, one room, inside deluxe, $1754
April 11, 4 nights, one room, inside deluxe, $1953 Total for B2B, $3707.36

Savings of $1256.32 PLUS we add 2 nights to the trip!!
I think we might get another $195 because of our booking discount too, so almost $1500 total savings, plus 2 extra nights!

The downsides....A) it does back up to the band trip, so it's a lot of out of pocket for 2 weeks. Steve and Connor could fly in that Thursday morning and Colton and I can drive up to get them, then head to the port together. B)Steve is running out of vacation time. His year is June 14-June 14. He might not have enough. C) The kids would miss 4 days of school, right after Spring Break. UGH. A lot to think of, and decide on, really quick!

Steve is still pushing to cancel the cruise all together and hold out for 2011. I would much rather cruise, of course. With the savings on the cruise, it's more then the expense of Colton and I doing the band trip, so it's almost like getting it free!!

Like I don't have enough going through my head! Now I have this!! LOL

Whatever you do today,
Make It Magical! :wizard:

I really need to unsubscribe to this thread so I won't get emails with new posts!

As an FYI, our TA said you can't combine the on-board booking discounts and the kids-sail-free offers. I figured we still saved over $2,000 so it was worth it for us.

Your back-to-back cruise is only about $300 more than our 4 night because we have 5 of us! Kids are so expensive even when they're "Free"! :rotfl2: We are packing all 5 of us like sardines in a Cat 4 though. I'm not sure I could handle 3 more nights of that!!

We have always wanted to do back-to-back. I would say go for it if you can work it out from a time-off perspective. Our kids missed 9 days of school for our Panama Canal cruise! :scared1: Granted, it was the first 9 days of the school year and they didn't miss that much except review which they didn't need. Missing 4 days isn't too bad if they are good students, but only you can know if it will work for your school and kids. (If I were on the Main Boards, I'd be flamed like crazy for this heresy!)
