5/30/2010-5 Night Disney Wonder Memorial Day Double Dip! Roster-Post 626 on page 42

Howdy all! I wanted to stop in and say hi. I just moved my booked-onboard June 13 double dip to this sailing. I discovered that the cost was over $1000 cheaper for the 3 of us (me and my 2 DDs who will be 8 and 11 at the time of sailing) on May 30 vs. June 13. The sailing is indeed pretty full because I had a Cat. 6 on the other sailing and wanted to keep it, but all that is available on May 30 are Cat. 6 GTYs. Plus main dining is full. I am on the waitlist, but I was thinking of switching to late dining anyway and I will decide on that a bit later.

Can't wait to meet all of you!

Welcome! It's seemingly a cruise full of Dis'ers :rotfl2:

Yes, this cruise is booking fast! The last time I checked, there was ONE catagory 11 left!

I have a proposal for consideration over the next few months. As I said, my DDs will be 11 and 8 when we cruise.

My oldest LOVES to snorkel, but my youngest does not. This past cruise, older DD wanted me to snorkel with her but I couldn't since I could not leave younger DD alone. I would love to hook up with a family with similar aged children that we could hang with on CC so we could alternately watch each other's kids. I am happy to watch children while adults scoot over to SB if they wish. I just felt so bad because I could not split my time with DDs, and younger DD did not want to leave the beach to go to the club. The only thing that really saved me was the weather. It was so cloudy/windy/rainy/cold that day that older DD didn't want to snorkel for long.

Just a thought!

My DW & I just booked this cruise and we can't wait. She is a kindergarten teacher who will just out of school and ready for a break by then. We also have friends on the boards who have booked this cruise and I will get her to introduce herself.

To make the wait a little shorter we are flying tomorrow to WDW for a quick celebration of my DW's birthday on Saturday. We have annual passes & some extra DVC points and the next thing you know we have another trip put together.

This looks like a great group and we are ready for some fun!

We've had the same situation. Luckily last time my DS went snorkeling with me and DD spent time on the beach with DW. My DS will be 10 on the cruise and DD will be 7. On our past two cruises we've never been able to get them to get into the "groove" with kids of similar ages. Maybe on this trip our kids can get connected and that will help. We'll see, you know how kids are, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

:welcome: I've added you to the first post. Yes, I can't believe the cost breaks that just a few weeks (or days) make! That is why we chose this particular cruise. This 5 night cruise is actually about $1,500 more than our previous two 7 night cruises, both of which were in September. Unfortunately, there are no 7 nights next September as the Magic is over in Europe.

We did main dining on our first two cruises and late dining on our last cruise. We actually enjoyed late dining as we didn't feel rushed in late afternoon to get back to the room to change. Granted, if you want to see the show you still need to get back a little early, but late dining does allow for more free time in the late afternoon/early evening.

I am very blessed as my sister is going to absorb the bulk of the cost of this cruise as a gift to my two girls. :cool1:

We have done main twice, and both time I felt a little rushed to get back and ready. More so on this last cruise in May. So I am seriously considering late dining knowing that my children may not last very long, but next year they will be old enough to go back to the cabin on their own.

Hello all!!

Welcome to the new cruisers!! I am really looking forward to this cruise, although, Steve keeps threatening to move this back a whole year!! Ugh. I think, he too, wants to be on the new ship in 2011, but I don't want to wait that long!! I think his idea is to move this cruise back and then throw in a Carnival cruise. I dunno....give me Castaway Cay ANYDAY! We have friends that are frequent Carnival Cruisers and they just love it! PLUS, since Steve was a MP in the National Guard, Carnival offers a discount, even though he is no longer active duty. it's a huge incentive!!

Jacqueline, You'll have to tell me all about the Seas Aqua Tour!!! We had debated doing this when we were there in June, but didn't. Now, I wish we had!

Christopher, VERY COOL about getting a game ball! Were you able to get it autographed after the game? Love the photo too!

We much prefer late dining! We took the boys to the pool one evening, about 4 or 5 I guess, it was EMPTY. All the kids were in getting ready for dinner! We still made the dinner show and had time to dress for dinner and get photos! It was great!

Everyone enjoy your summer!!

This is one of our biggest issues... getting OUT of the pool in time for dinner. Between that and excursions and wanting to have time to relax before dinner, I think late might make more sense for us.

I wonder if the shows are going to be different next year?

I hope the Toy Story show is still showing. Other than that, I really don't care. I wonder what the 5th night will be though. Perhaps a 3-D movie?

ITA about relaxing before dinner! Enjoy the late dinner and an empty pool early. Here is some peace and quiet at the Goofy pool during the early dining time. :confused3:thumbsup2

We'd hate to see you reschedule, but will understand, especially with the savings you can get. I was looking at Carnival/RCL prices yesterday as I received an email with cruises from $189 pp. I did find some 4 night RCL cruises for around $225 pp. That's a lot less than Disney so I can see how tempting it is. I'm not sure I could get my DW to agree to not do a Disney cruise though.

No, we weren't able to get the ball autographed. The kids have taken very good care of it as it was "touched" by Aaron Cook, Chris Ianeta and Todd Helton before being tossed into the crowd to us!

Hope everyone else's summer is going great! Just about 4 weeks left before school starts here with a lot still planned. We go to a Kenny Chesney concert next weekend, my middle DS flies to Kansas City to spend a week with his grandparents and we have our WDW trip. I'm definitely ready for a break from work!!

Hi everyone,

We were away this weekend at the largest anime convention on the East Coast, Otakon. It was great, lots of interesting panels, events, people, and merchandise. If you or a family member is into anime or manga, I recommend it to you.

Now, I believe there was a request for more Pixar Play Parade photos. I have to let you know in advance that there won't be any of The Incredibles on hover cars. I was juggling a camcorder and a camera at the parade. By the time The Incredibles came by, I had given up trying to both photograph and record. So, here are some other images from the parade.

Here's the opening with Lightning leading the way. Behind him, you can see the folks from Monsters, Inc. with Sully pedalling the Pixar Play Parade drum.

If you go to the Parade, be warned, you will get wet. The characters have super soakers, there are jets on the floats, and even water coming from other unlikely areas.

It was very high energy and the Cast Members looked like they were having as much fun as we were.

stitch1313, the parade pics were awesome !! DS would flip out if he saw that parade !! And he would love it if someone soaked him. (he gets a thrill if the priest hits him with holy water in church during the Easter season, if you are catholic you'll know what I mean.) We need to win a contest to Disneyland (I think that is the only way we could afford it.;), we are considering putting a pool in next year  there goes all our savings !!:headache:

Chris, dolphin pic was neat. Where were you when you shot that ? I am figuring ,not the Bahamas...
You can't see much of the Harry Potter construction. I think they are trying to keep it under wrap as much as they can till it is finished. I assume it will be spectacular. :thumbsup2
The rip, rockin' rollercoaster (I think that's the name) looks like a coaster to me. One section you are either going straight up or straight down, it seems like a pretty good size coaster in length. I know I'd never get on it, DS (age 6 ) can't wait till he is big enough to ride, at least that is what he said when he saw it. I have an 110% BOY !!:yay:

Hope everyone is having a nice summer, it has been oddly cool in Western PA. One day last week hit the mid-80's. DS went to a pool birthday party today. At least the sun was out most of the afternoon, probably about 76. The kids were okay in the water, but when they got out everyone was shivering. :goodvibes

Have any of you single parents driven with your kids to port? I live in Houston and am seriously considering it for this cruise. I know it can be tough to drive that far (we would take 2 to 2 1/2 days to do it), but I have cruised twice with my kids and the whole flying thing is quite a hassle, not to mention expensive.

Thoughts?

The Dolphin picture was taken as we were coming into Cabo San Lucas.

As you could probably guess, I like to carry my camera with me at all times while on the cruise as it's small and fits in my pocket. We also love eating breakfast at Topsiders especially on mornings we come into port. That morning I saw those Dolphins while eating breakfast and immediately popped up to get a picture while my DW was reminding me to put the strap around my wrist as she was afraid that I would lose the camera. An hour later we were in Diversions waiting to get the stickers for our shore excursion. The person next to me in line was talking about how he lost his new digital camera that morning taking pictures of dolphins.

Great pictures and a fun parade. I wish DCL had Pixar characters. Well, at least the Wonder has the Toy Story show now which is one of the reasons we wanted to sail on the Wonder.

I'm surprised the Green Army Men didn't have the big flat circles around their feet like they do at WDW.

Any thoughts or musings on what the itinerary might be as far as when pirate night will be, or what menus and dinner rotations might happen?

I think my kids are the same way. But I also think they'd like the clubs if they'd give them more of a chance. We've always had fun so I guess thats all that matters.

We just did the drive from KS to South Padre Island at the beginning of the month and will be doing all our trips in a plane for a while. The kids did great but it was pretty tiring for me driving even though I had the option of having DW drive. It always makes the first day or so of my trips a recovery time and I don't want that on a cruise. Plus the dread of driving back starts before the end of the trip for me. But if you make the most of it and have some good stops I'm sure it can be done.
