Virgil thanks to you and all those who work these holidays!

Thanks also to all the service men and women who are spending the holiday away from home as they serve this country.

UTOP with Virgil.

PDFG and all our friends who need it!

We're back from Mass (we always do the Mass at Dawn since the 7 am is our usual Mass).

Just finished breakfast and finished making the dressing. Now we are going to relax and watch the Christmas parade from WDW. Then after the parade is over I'll start the turkey for a mid-afternoon dinner.

Hope all our DIS friends are enjoying a nice Christmas day. It isn't as warm here as it was in St. Thomas back in 2004 but still a wonderful day. :santa:

I wore my DIS Holiday Cruiser lime green scrub top to work today! Everybody loves the stories of our cruise! I would much rather be playing golf in St. Thomas today....

We personally thank you! It was last Christmas Day that we had to take Jared to the emergency room for MRSA.

Stacey, I hope this year is not as exciting! And thanks for being there, Virgil.

Alicia is working for four hours today too. Making sure that everyone is sufficiently caffeinated. Kevin played Mario Kart on the Wii for a couple of hours after she left. A new enthusiasm.

We are about to start cooking a tenderloin of beef with mushroom polenta. My brother and family are coming for dinner. I just hope the meal tastes as good as it sounds. Kevin has decided to follow Jim's prime rib recipe for the filet.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday!

Thanks for working, Virgil... and I hope there aren't too many who need your services tonight!!!!

We had a quiet day here... dinner with friends last night, nothing going on today. We did Chinese takeout for dinner, so there was no cooking or cleanup involved.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

Pretty quiet here too. Just the four of us so far. Jordan's boyfriend Paul gets back from Wisconsin (visiting relatives) at just about dinner time....the boy is like Matt, never misses a meal! And our company arrives at about 10 pm. I'm guessing they'll head straight for bed.

It's been raining all day, but I think (I hope!) it's been steady enough to not flood the creek.

Jordan has been dog-sitting, so she came here this morning, went back to check on them, will have dinner here and then go back over to their house for the night. ANother reason I hope it doesn't flood.

Everyone has been enjoying their new "toys". No computers or games. Jay got a few books and a metal detector, among other things. Jared got a neon clock, books and a new camera for his trip this summer. Jordan got a new camera too, but got most of her "Christmas" in the form of new fall clothing.
I got a new toaster, an outdoor thermometer, a fire pit for the back patio and a Beach Boys cd. :)

Good morning all!

We had a pretty quiet Christmas too! My parents arrived from Chicago on Friday night, they escaped the Chicago snow just in time. Our big dinner was Sunday with John's aunt, uncle and family. John traditionally cooks on Christmas Eve but he was working all of the afternoon/evening services. John fixed prime rib, squash, mushrooms in a Cabernet sauce, horseradish cream sauce, horseradish mashed potatoes, his aunt brought salad. For dessert, he made our traditional peppermint cheesecake.

Christmas Eve, we had dinner at John's aunt and uncle's house - he had roasted pork, twice baked potatoes, salad, sweet potatoes, broccoli, and for dessert, apple strudel.

Yesterday afternoon, we got together with friends for a low key afternoon of gumbo and chicken with dumplings, for dessert more apple strudel and a pumpkin/cream cheese roll.

We're heading downtown this afternoon to use our gift to my parents - tickets to see "A Christmas Carol" at our regional theatre.

A belated Merry Christmas to all. My parents got here on Saturday, and both my brothers on Tuesday. Charley had to work both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We had everything ready both days when he got home so that worked out okay. We all had a very good Christmas and just trying to recover now. My brothers and I went out early this morning for the after Christmas specials. Dillard's got most of my money.:)

Your holiday was like my family's used to be....all about the food. ;)

And I'm DROOLING over the cheesecake!!!

It's been a really interesting day. Our friends got in okay last night, and even though it was pouring rain, the creek was fine.

I woke up this morning and the power had been out since 5 am. It did finally come back on at 9:00...but I was worried that the power had been out at the apartment...it wasn't, they were fine. Jay made coffee for us over the burner on the bbq grill.....the exact reason I bought us a grill with a side burner!

Anyway....when I woke up, I could hear the creek from our bedroom...never a good sign. Of course it was flooded, we got an inch and a half of rain. Our friends had to do their first day of touring without us.
The rain had stopped during the early morning hours and the sun was out...first time in over a week...a really pretty day. At about 3:30 the clouds came back....and it SNOWED!!!!! Unbelievable.
Our neighbor across the creek was nice enough to use his tractor to clear out the creek and we managed to get across to at least meet our friends for dinner.

This is a picture I took of the sky after the snow had fallen and melted. It was just a weird all-around day.
Not quite a Kevin or John photo, but I thought it was kind of cool.

Yes!! I get to go out and tour today! It's sunny, but still cold....47°....yes, that's COLD for us.

Been thinking about the Scuba family.....I so wish we were on that ship!!!

So I don't know for sure what we're doing today, waiting now for them to be ready to go and for Jordan to get here (she's been house/dog sitting). There just doesn't seem to be a lot to do.
Might suggest the Petroglyph exhibit....interesting to me, but probably not to the kids.....the Mystery Castle....Wrigley Mansion.....otherwise, it's too cold for the Wildlife World Zoo or Out of Africa.....
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3
Too snowy to head north to Montezuma Castle (cliff dwellings)......

Bad tour guide!!
