You all were chatty this weekend!

PPD to Stephanie too. Kiki, glad to hear your Mom had a good day, hope it continues.

My Dad was very surprised, but no heart palpitations thank goodness. He wanted to show us all over Laughlin Saturday night, with my brother driving us around. We finally had to claim night blindness and exhaustion. Dad forgets that WE aren't kids anymore.

Came back to a snowstorm, after flight delays both ways. Schools are closed today which is not good since finals are this week.

I also came back to computer problems. Can't get my desktop to connect to the internet so I'm on the laptop. But all my work stuff is on the desktop, pictures etc. So I will spend today trying to contact Dell.

I enjoyed this season of Survivor, Sugar really made it interesting. I was disappointed she didn't win fan favorite. But then there are rumors that she may have been a bit of a plant. She's an actress, so it's possible. We may never find out for sure. I was rooting for Matty or Sugar to win, but Bob is OK too.

Actually this has been going on for some time. So called "mactors" (model/actors) who are recruited for the show.

Why does the show cast models or actors or people who've never seen the show?
Because they don't receive enough quality applications. Lynne Spillman, who's in charge of casting for "Survivor" and "The Amazing Race," has said in interviews that the show regularly receives tens of thousands of applications, but most aren't from what the show considers to be good candidates. Thus, the show recruits, often models or actors (dubbed "mactors")although those people still go through the casting process. That's become more common recently; everyone except one person on "Survivor Fiji" was recruited, and while that may give us unmemorable mactors, recruiting has also given us unlikely but popular contestants such as Yau-Man Chan.

This is an excerpt from an article found here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26726792/

Hmmm...that's really interesting, Mary. All I know is that they could recruit me til the cows came home, guarantee me the million dollars, and I STILL wouldn't do it. No way, no how.

And NO SNOW here. Finally clear enough to see the mountains, and way, way back on the highest ones there is a dusting...but that's all.
No flood either....yet.....

Well the snow is coming down hard here. Guess we'll have a white Christmas.

What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow

What is Christmas with no snow
I know Florida
Snow - no.

Great movie, but right now I'm ready to hop a plane to FL to be away from the snow. :lmao:

I know and that is the sad part but if you could leave the last two of the Twilight series books I could be ok. :lmao:

Jordan has been reading those too. Would I like them, do you think?

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I booked Alaska for 2010!!!!

The ONLY bad part is that it isn't DCL.

Norwegian Pearl. Aft mini-suite, on the end (corner) so the views and pictures should be great.
The Pearl has a rock climbing wall, bowling alley and Wii game room. Hopefully Jared will still be interested in tagging along....he'll be 17 that year.
It's going to be Jay's 60th birthday extravaganza. 60...wow. I'll only be 52 that year.
Anyway....the best part.....$4000 total for the 3 of us, and a $300 onboard credit!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

More yippee! A U-TOP! :yay: :yay:

Extra PDFG....and Steph, and Karen's mom....and anyone else who needs it!

Sounds awesome, Stacey! :goodvibes What's the itinerary?

Well I guess they can best be described as a teenage love story where one of the teenagers is a vampire. I think they are very well written and I really enjoyed the first book and I'm about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way into the 2nd book. Hope that helps.

Karen can probably answer better than I can as I think she has read more of them.:)

This is the first series that Maggie is obsessed with reading. She's never been much of a book reader, especially long books, she enjoys the Harry Potter movies, but never finished the 1st book - she prefers magazines and short stories. John read the first two before she did, he said they were just "ok" I think he was expecting something along the lines of Eragon or Harry Potter with a bit more universal appeal and not quite as formulaic. -He is obviously not the target audience. ;) I'm saving them for our cruise in January.

And I'm thinking of going north after the cruise. Cold is okay when it is only for a few days.

Matt and I talked last night and are thinking that a few days playing in the snow during his leave would be fun and something different for me. He is looking for lodges todau, but might be a little difficult to find something on such as short notice over the holiday weekend.

I agree that John isn't the target audience. I already told Mark I didn't think he would enjoy the books and he likes Harry Potter a lot. Definately "chick" books. :)

Actually, I'm about as far as you are in New Moon. Maybe somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2....but closer to 1/3 probably.

Just have had a lot going on lately and when I sit down to read, I fall asleep!

Agreed.

Monica, you may want to pre-read the third book. I knew it from Wikipedia, but was also forewarned by my SIL (who got us hooked on the books). There is a pretty intense love scene in book #3--Eclipse. KT and I talked about it and I let her read it, then we talked again. The basic gist is that she is begging him to have sex and he won't do it until they are married. But it's quite sensual and descriptive. I used it as an opportunity to talk about how easy it is to go too far once you've started and how Edward did the right thing by refusing. And that sex before marriage is not how it should be.

I know Maggie is a bit younger than KT, so I'm not sure where she is on that subject, or rather, where you want her to be! :)
