One thing I would suggest, from our recent cruise, is to make sure you take a couple of highlighters of different colors.

They were on my list... but I have another packing question, actually, 2... not having cruised DCL before...

1. Do they have the usual retractable clotheslines in the showers like other cruise lines and most hotels have??? (For those of us WITHOUT a veranda who need a place to dry stuff...)

2. Has anybody in this crowd ever REALLY used 2-way radios on board (no... I'm not trying to start one of the general cruise board flame-throwing debates)... we have a good set that the kids use for miles all over the neighborhood... I've read that the DO work on board and that they DON'T... (I know the whole 'the ship is metal'... technical blah-blah blah...) but I've heard both... so... anyone?

Glad things were quiet here this morning. I was finally able to catch up ... took me over an hour!

We're a tired bunch today. The girls have dance recital pics this afternoon so everyone MUST take a nap. We'll be hitting the hay in a few minutes.

Not sure what we're going to do about pics this year. The photographer has changed his policy. Before we paid a $10 sitting fee. He printed the pics then we picked the size photos that we wanted .. paid per sheet. Looks like he's charging a flat $45 for a package that includes the group photo. Not sure what I'll do since I have 2. There is no way I'm spending $90! My thought (before reading about the pricing change) was that I could get them photographed together. Not sure if just buying the group photo separately is even an option any more.

Good luck with the recitals! That stinks about the pics, though. It's the same deal at Erin's school. Very expensive packages when all we want is the class shot. Hope you can just get what you want.

I had to laugh at DS comment this morning,

It was raining really hard on the way to Hebrew School but for a change we were early and DH was with us as no-one showed up to open the gym this morning so we are driving in and

DH says 'it's going to snow today - you are early'
DD says 'great, rain and snow in May'
DS says ' G-d is multi-tasking today'

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thanks for the belly laugh. I needed it.

We were thinking of seeing a movie this afternoon. Some of the offerings have gotten terrible ratings.

I remember that a couple of you were talking about seeing "Stick It". How was it? Fran?

Rotten Tomatoes only gave it a 33%. Not great.......

It's a niche movie. If you know someone in gymnastics and have interest already, such as our very own Little Gymnast, it's probably fun. Anyone who doesn't is looking at it and going
huh.gif
, which probably makes up most of the reviewers.

Ok, I must DEFINITELY not be a coffee snob b/c I think DCL's coffee is my favorite. Maybe the atmosphere has something to do with it. :)

I just KNOW this is going to make a couple of people on here GASP :earseek:

Not really. The Cove has a cup of coffee that's really COFFEE! I think it's actually espresso, but it's only $1, and it will really give you a fix. Sometimes they even give you a biscotti with it!

- Honestly, I do not recall if they do or not......hum, sorry about that - I was going to remind you to bring cothes line and clothes pins, but no veranah...

How about some of the light weight plastic hangers...- you can hang over the shower rod....

2. Has anybody in this crowd ever REALLY used 2-way radios on board (no... Editorical comment - (and we do not have kids) but I hate those things....refused to use them in Epcot - much to dismay of traveling companion....Strange - Sam and I never seem to be able to lose each other....

I know.....

I've tried...... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Other than underwater when he swims away --- hum, could that be why????? :rolleyes1

Wish DH would do a 4 day but he says it is just too short, could probably go more often then :lmao: :lmao:

Well, I concur with DH that it is too short, but between Christmas and New Year's time off work is easy to get so......

Yesterday afternoon we were to have 2 families over. One mom called yesterday morning and said that she had been throwing up all night and said that no one in their family would come. I thanked her. The bad thing was that a little girl from the other family spent the night at their house. I sat my girls down on the sofa and told them that they were NOT to pick up and drink out of a juice box that they weren't certain was theirs.

We had a great time. The weather was nice - kids played outside & ran around the yard. Bruce grilled. The adults sat around & had some adult beverages.

BTW ... Julia, hope Adam is feeling better. Karen, hope KT is feeling better too.

1) - yes they have these in the shower. Very handy when you come back from the beach and wash out your swimsuit.

2) We have taken them once when we traveled with my in-laws. They worked ok. Not great. Best advice is that if you have ones that have multiple channels that would work best. Otherwise you might be hearing everyone else conversation that is using one. We found after that one trip that we really don't need them. Wipe boards in the room work best.

At 18 and over they are an adult as far as all the entertainment areas etc. They can go to the clubs, they can go to Serenity Bay, they can do the spa and Palo. They cannot drink until they are 21. I think you will find the same on most cruise ships however.
As one who was allowed to legally drink when she was 18 - that is not fair....by the time I was 21 the state reconsidered and lowered the age back to 18 --- humm?????? :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Karen, I know you say you've hear the 'blah blah' stuff, but the 5 mile radios have a 2-3 deck reach, and only then if you're both near the same end of the ship or near the outside, like on the verandah. That metal totally messes up the signal.
