Tell Mike; Well done!

Personally, I don't agree with giving away blanket amnesty. However, the right to assemble and debate is what our country is founded on and THAT should never change!!

...scuse me - remember my post about the deportation letter my 85 year old mother received from INS and she was a war bride married to an American Veterean in 1945...from an Allied nation...uh huh.....

that was - let me think - LAST year in August - when I was out of town..not bitter, not bitter,,,,

ok politics over.....

Sounds like a fun time. Had to change after they changed time in port on us. Glad to have so much company :cool1:

DCDeb - you like my hear ship -- that is sweet.. :cloud9:

I am planning on changing it nest week -- I think it will still stay posted, but just in case.....look on Monday........ :goodvibes

Yeah, I'm not for blanket amnesty either, but I don't think rounding them all up and deporting them is the way to go either. I'm not sure how this will play out. Seal the borders and work towards getting the ones who are here now through the citizenship process, maybe???

I DO know that if it wasn't for the Mexican immigrants, there would be a lot of things that didn't get done in this country. At least they are willing to WORK....and work HARD. I'm sick of seeing our American born teens acting like it's the end of the world if they have to do something....and do it well. Seems like they all want to be paid lots of money for the least amount of work possible.

Heck, I'd like that too, but I'm realistic that if I want lots of money, I'll have to work hard (or marry well! :lmao: :lmao: )

btw, our siding job is starting Monday and we were "warned" that it would more than likely be an all Mexican crew (legal, of course)....but they did say that they were hard pressed to find enough Americans willing to do the work and who weren't all mired down in unions. :(

I have two older sisters and an older brother (yes, I'm the spoiled baby of the family---or so my siblings would say)

All of my siblings and I live totally different lifestyles and while we all love each other dearly, there isn't one of them I'd want to spend a month with! We'd kill each other!!! :lmao:

So - sorry - you cannot play --- not hot tubs without shifts for you..... :confused3

This DISer is going to say goodnight all. I have a bet with my DH - he says I can't get out of the house before 8am to go shopping. I want to go to bed early enough to prove him wrong. I have to pay him $1 for each minute AFTER 8am that I leave. And he has to pay me $1 for each minute BEFORE 8am I leave. Let the games begin. He doesn't know who he's dealing with.

Nite nite......

Okay, I finally got all caught up. Had to leave earlier to pick up Ashley at church. I had a short day at work today. We had a luncheon honoring all of the employees who had been at the college for 20, 25 and 30 years. I was one at the 20 mark. As soon as the luncheon was over, we got to take the afternoon off. I can't believe it, but I came home, put some laundry in and then took a nap. Our house was awfully hot. We have evaporative coolers here and they haven't been turned on yet. It got up to about 93 here today. We have two evap coolers on the house, and we are looking at converting to refrigerated air.

Kevin -- how familiar are you with the conversion process?? BOth evap coolers need to be replaced as they have been on the house 12 years. We have a mastercool and an ultracool. The ultra cool is completely shot. Charley at least the the mastercool on this afternoon. The estimates are coming in higher than I would have hoped. I would really like to have it done before Ashley's confirmation, as we will have a house full of people. Anything in particular we should be looking at. We are looking at a 5 ton Carrier unit, 14 seers, new thermostats, sealing off both air conditioners slots on roof, new thermostat, and we are looking at about $5700.
Thanks

For a 14 SEER system, with 5 ton capacity, that isn't outrageous. It is a chunk of change....... You could go with a lower SEER rating on the condenser but the higher rating will save you money in the long run. Ask them if they have comparison charts for the different efficiency ratings of the units with payback schedules. That sometimes can be helpful.

Is this doing anything other than installing the fan coil units at your existing furnace? Same furnace and blower?

The biggest problem we see with systems using a split system (forced air heating and evap cooling) is the duct sizing. For forced air, you want convection with a low volume air exchange rate and a balanced return air transport. With evap you want high volume of air rate and of course NO return air.
Most AC systems use the same principals as forced air heating and can effectively use the same ductwork. Is the ductwork in the house capable of handling that system? Are there hot or cold spots in the present set up? Can adding or changing return air registers be helpful? questions to ask the contractor. Have they addressed these or even checked?

I figured he would answer that before he went to bed. Must be why he was up at 10:20, that's way late for him!

Kevin and I used to be able to pass for Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon. Bull Durham, anyone? Sadly, they have aged much better than we have. Now, why were we going to have a movie made about us again?

So the Night Owl No Sisters Club it is! The NONS. I like it, does is include Banfi?
