Done Wal-Marting already. I was glad to get it out of the way. I only needed a couple of things, anyway. And since Mary pirate: my last set-up...

If you like Ginger you should like this, it is Black Seal Rum and Ginger Beer, if you have a bunch it will put you down for the count but should be OK for 1 or 2...It can also be made with Ginger Ale and is still as good but not as heavy of a ginger flavor....

And of course, ginger is good for seasickness. Sounds like a perfect cruise drink!

Happy Birthday, BTW!

If you go to Costa Maya (on a ship, on a land based vacation...doesn't matter) the American Red Cross puts you on a list and you cannot donate blood for one year ---Costa Maya is a "malarial risk" country.

From the American Red Cross website:
Malaria
Wait 3 years after completing treatment for malaria. Wait 12 months after returning from a trip to an area where malaria is found. Wait 3 years after living in a country where malaria is found.

The countries that have NO malaria risk in any area are as follows, listed alphabetically:
Albania, Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua/Barbuda, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Azores, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Bermuda, Boznia/Herzegovina, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Canary Islands, Cayman Islands, Chile, Christmas Island, Cook Islands, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Diego Garcia Islands, Dominica, England, Estonia, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guam, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland (Northern and Republic of), Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madeira, Maldives, Malta, Marshall Islands, Martinique, Micronesia, Moldova, Monaco, Mongolia, Montserrat, Nauru, Netherlands, Netherland Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Northern Mariana Islands, Norway, Pacific Islands, Palau, Pitcairn Islands, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Reunion, Romania, Russia, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Saint Pierre, Saint Vincent, Samoa, San Marino, Scotland, Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tokelau, Tonga, Trinidad/Tobago, Tunisia, Turks/Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Virgin Islands, Wake Island, and Yugoslavia.
You'll notice "Costa Maya" is not listed. So therefore you have to wait a year to give through the ARC.

Thanks for the heads up and EEEEWWWWW!!!!! I really enjoyed Costa Maya last time and now I am not so sure... :confused3 Can we trade in for a 3rd CC day? :cheer2:

Sandi, glad I didn't accidentally pirate your top. I'm bad about that.

We will do the morning rental car drop off on sailing day. Kevin drops us and the luggage, then he returns the car and takes the shuttle back to the port. It works, and the DCL agents are used to people doing it. Just have to make sure he has ID so he can get in the terminal.

I guess we need to know if JB's requires reservations. Early sounds good, I would imagine they are busy on a Friday night. So Jim, what time do you guys get off work? Will Lisa have gym that night?

Love the picture of Matt in the helicopter, great idea. Alicia would probably like that too, so don't tell her either.

OK.... All caught up!! and between getting kids off to school, talking cruise with DH, setting a lunch date and a load of laundry .... it only took me 2 hours!!! :badpc:

Dh had a question you all may of already hit on.... We went to Costs Maya with PrincessCL.... Docked at a very commercial place. Maja-hal (sp?) Lots of shopping in rent spaces, resturant w/band and two pools, local dancers.... neat but no real beach access because of the rocks. We really liked it.... go figure... Are we docking there this time or somewhere else? Dh said he thought he read somewhere that we are a mile down the beach.

If so, does anyone know about this place? Better, worse, beach access?

Greetings, just checking in with everyone. Seems like the post count keeps going up and up! Come on 52706!

Want to say welcome to the new people. I am Paul (32) and my wife Rebecca (27) are taking our second Disney Cruise. Our 2-year old gets a week at WDW while we are on the ship...(ahh...relaxation!) She is now acting like a 2-year old all the time. I am usually in lurker mode, but I will try to post more to help us make 52706.

I ran a marathon yesterday morning. It was part of the Albuquerque Tricentennial events. Started out with a balloon mass ascention which was cool, but then the rest of it could have been better. It got hot out there and water stops were about 2-2.7 miles apart. For the Disney Marathon/Half Marathon water stops are about 1 mile apart. But I still finished the 26.2 miles and am able to walk today, so I guess it could have been worse! My official time was 4:43.

Paul

Congrats on the marathan. A friend of ours just ran the Boston Marathan. Have you run the disney marathan?

Liz :cool1:

Good Morning, Everyone

Ohiominnie, I saw on the news in Baltimore the big fire in London. Hope all is okay. :wave2:

I am at work, without Sue, and getting a lot done. (I do miss her - when she volunteers here all we do is yak about cruising.)

DH mowed the lawn Thursday and due to all the rain we had since Friday, he is not happy about having to mow again so soon.

Have a good day.

Liz

I am a bit confused. Costa Maya is a just region(city?) in Mexico, not a country -- although Mexico is also not listed. But then wouldn't just visiting Cozumel cause the same problem? :confused3

Thank you all for the congrats!

I did the Goofy Challenge at Disney this past January. It is the half marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday, so it is 39.3 miles over the 2 days. About 3000 people were "Goofy" enough to sign up for it, and I think that only 2400 people actually completed both races before the cutoff.

Next major race on my schedule is the Disneyland half in September, and I am seriously considering doing the Goofy again next January.

Okay - did find this from the malaria section of the CDC website:

Mexico: Risk in rural areas, including resorts in rural areas, of the following states: Campeche, Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, and Tabasco. In addition, risk exists in Jalisco State (in its mountainous northern area only). Risk also exists in an area between 24° north and 28° north latitude and 106° west and 110° west longitude which lies in parts of the states of Sonora, Chihuahua, and Durango. No malaria risk along the United States-Mexico border. No malaria risk in the major resorts (that is, resorts located in urban areas) along the Pacific and Gulf coasts, although tourists should use insect repellent and other anti-mosquito measures.

So Costa Maya must not count as Urban :rotfl2:

In light of all the marathon talk, here is my 'profound' thought for my 3500th post...

The only way you'll EVER see ME run 26.2 miles is if I am being chased 26.1 miles!

And, while I'm at it, another :bday: to Ray... because he has been trying to keep his b-day 'under the radar'... he hasn't been on the boards long enough to realize that EVERY birthday gets party: around here.

Yeah! Happy to hear you'll be joining us.

Jim - have you been keeping track of how many are going to JB's. Do we need a reservation?

We will have to work out the details once it gets a little closer. There is no need for reservations, but I would like to call with a number ahead of time so they are not shocked.

It's getting tough to keep up with the board between the number of posts and the slow server.
