If I keep this up, I will get a top on the next page almost all by myself!!:rotfl:

nope, I snuck in - just got home from dinner with friends - instead of Mexican, changed our minds, we went and had seafood. There is a family from Beaumont who evacuated from Rita and relocated their restaurant in our area. They're known for their bbq crabs - yum!

Congrats to Mark and Virgil for the milestone posts...

Too lazy to do Virgil's thing so, I didn't post a reply when I hit the milestone...

Stacey(and anyone else..) I'm finally looking at replacing my venerable Nokia 5100 phone. That's one of the older ones that is only a phone, no messaging, no camera, nada.

I know you have the Treo, but I was waiting for what I heard to be more than rumour, and it finally is. http://www.palm.com/us/products/smartphones/treo700w/?cid=crt_treo700launch

Mary and I have older PocketPC devices, neither do any kind of wireless or have a really internet capable browser.

I have a question or two that's irelevant of what OS it has.

1) How does it handle accessing the internet? Wifi, or thru Verison or Both? And if thru Verison, how do they charge for it?
2) How easy it is to read and use the keypad on the bottom?
3) How good is the phone part for quality and battery life?

I'm alternatively looking at this, as it has a 640x200 screen on the flip and a 3/4 keyboard, but I don't think it's out yet. http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/9500/ It also doesn't list what service provider's going to carry it or what OS it has. But my current PDA is 640x200 and a 3/4 keyboard so I have a small leaning towards this one.

Monica -- Ashley's fly has really come along. She just needs to develop some more upper body strength. She is really small compared to most of the kids swimming. She is about 5' tall and only ways 72 pounds. She is all arms and legs and not much else. Back and Breast have always been her best, with Free as her worst stroke. Since her Fly has come along, that is one reason she has done well in the 200 IM. She has had a harder time this year since she is in a new age group. A lot of these girls look 14 or 15, Ashley could pass for 9 ;)

The best thing is she enjoys it and she is in excellent physical shape. Much more active than I was at that age and much more discipline.

After the swim meet tomorrow, we get to drive the 30 miles back to my house from the pool and then another 35 miles up to Las Cruces. Dale's high school band is playing in a concert with the New Mexico State University band at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Then my SIL wants us to come for dinner. My nephew is home for a week before he gets shipped to Korea (joined the army last year). The family is relieved he is not going to Iraq. I envision another long day. At least the kids get to sleep in on Monday. And since no one will be at work except me and one other person, I can go in however I want (sweats -- yea) so I think I will sleep in until 7 or so.:thumbsup2

Well I was going to try and paste it here but it isn't working. I thought it would be fun to see who got all the milestones. The chart is up on the web page (all the way at the bottom). Enjoy!

Awesome list Mary!:thumbsup2

I am thinking I should go to bed soon. I am awfully tired. Keep thinking I might find some new interesting cruise fact if I stay on here long enough. Trying to get all the laundry done tonight since I won't be around too much again tomorrow. The beach towels from the pool take forever to dry.

OKay - I am still here. Now I have been posting on this board for years now. A lot at the beginning I was just reading and not posting. Well-- tonight I learned two new things. I learned about Virgil's thing (very helpful when quoting and not wanting to lose your spot) and just realized that I could have two or more tabs open at the same time. I really feel dumb now;)

Sorry to interrupt if you were in the middle of something, will catch up in a second.

But..I talked to Vicki tonight (Garry's wife..:) ) and she said that you would have to be the same blood type as Garry to donate for him, unless you are O- (negative) which is a universal blood type. She also didn't think the blood banks would let us "earmark" blood for a specific individual.
But.....they thought that was just about the nicest thing that they had heard in a long time, and if anyone is so inclined, they would be delighted if we donated in Garry's honor.

Wow, Pam! That is a lot of swimming for Ashley. I used to swim mostly fly, and some back...very little breast (only when forced) and a little freestyle. I loved butterfly, I think, because it wasn't one that most were good at. Good for her! The best sport to be in, in my opinion.

That Nokia looks pretty decent! I'm trying hard not to "lust" after the Treo 700....it's just like computers, as soon as you buy one, there will be another new one.

To answer your questions:
1. Most of the time, the access is through Verizon. You pick a plan, just like you do at home for your access. "X" number of minutes a month, unlimited, etc. I had to buy a WiFi cradle for WiFi access, but the only time I've needed to use the WiFi is on a cruise. I get access everywhere in the U.S. through Verizon.
2. Reading on the screen is a piece of cake. The graphics are great..I can see all the pictures on here. The keyboard is really small. I've never used one before. I don't text on my phone, so I'm not good at it. I do the hunt and peck on it. But, I bought the wireless portable keyboard, and that's been a god-send. It folds up flat enough for my purse. If you're good at texting, though, you probably wouldn't have any trouble.
3. When I was in Omaha and using the Treo for the internet, I had to recharge it every night. When I've used it as a phone, I can get a good two days out of it. And you know how much I talk! If you don't talk alot, you'd probably do better than that.
It took me a while to get used to talking into something so flat, and I was uncomfortable at first with the microphone being so "hidden"....but I soon realized that it was much more clear than my flip-phone.
Definitely, of all the "toys" I've bought, it is by far my favorite and has become pretty valuable.

The only bad thing I can think of to say about it....it does take a while for each new page to load when I'm catching up on posts. It feels like hours, but I guess it's less than a minute. Maybe the 700 is faster.

Jared and I were just discussing whether we were going to just take the Treo to Disneyland, or the lap top. If I use the Treo over there, it's paid for in my monthly plan...if I use the lap top, I'll have to pay the connection fee at the hotel.

Fading.....and it's only 10:00. I got a lot done today and have a long to-do list for tomorrow, so I guess I'll go read myself to sleep. That will be about two pages, before the book hits me in the nose.

Good Night, everyone!

Still here....that's a pretty good mix of milestones. Except I sure see a lot of "Mary" on there.....;) :teeth:

Catching up, we watched a movie tonight. Congrats to Mark and Virgil on those big round milestones!

Big day here. I made it through my son's first prom and he is home safe. Yeah.

That is a big day! I don't even want to think about Proms yet! :faint:
